PeanutR - I'd like to comment on the 6800Gts - I have an XFX, and the stock fan is REALLY loud. I found that the Zalman VF700 set to the lowest setting (7v or 5v I can't remember) works really well, and keeps the GPU cool to boot. I play a lot of HL2, and have ZERO problems with this setup. If that ...

I used the Zip-tie method with soft rubber grommets on my LL v1000B, and it works great. You can use the zip-ties with closed or open corner fans, and the grommets isolate the fan from the case. I have very little detectable vibration, and they are very quiet (at 5v). I am using the CompUSA maddog f...

Hi there. I have the same case as you, V1000B, and it is N-O-I-S-Y! I think the ADDA fans are quite noisy at 12v, and if you ramp them up and down (with ASUS QFan for example) they sound like a weedwacker! I also think the rear fan grill causes a lot of turbulence. I have not used a NExus fan, so I ...

It would be interesting to see if you can do what Dell has done with their systems - Use the CPU duct so that you can run the CPU HS fanless. One less fan is always good. If you put a medium speed fan in the rear slot, and have the duct, perhaps you can plug that fan into the CPU header and control ...

Edmil - I have sent a message to Zalman regarding rotating the VF700. I would like to do the same thing. I would certainly feel better with more metal on the NForce4, but I am concerned about the double die on the 6800gt - There seems to be a big one and a small one, and I think it is important to m...

Well I'll be damned. Here's the answer - use the white panel. Pin 1 is the one by the SB logo: 1 - Analog Ground 2 - Analog Headphone Out Left 3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in) 4 - Analog Headphone Out Right 5 - same as #3 6 - Mic inpu...

Sure, I can elaborate. I put a Zalman HS (the big blue one) on my NF4 chip. When I was installing my HS I noticed that the NF4 had one corner chipped off. This is right after I took off my NB HS. It partially booted but didn't even finish the bios info screen - It just hung up. Then, I get power to ...

CAREFUL!
A word of warning to everyone here trying to put passive heatsinks on their Nforce4 - These things are FRAGILE and they have an EXPOSED CORE, like the old Thunderbirds. On my A8N-E The core chipped with the original HS on it! I have heard about this happening to others, so just be CAREFUL! It sucks ...

Creative (SoundBlaster) makes a front control panel for the Audigy 2 that fits in the external 5.25" bays. It is includes the normal connections, plus volume controls, remote control, and other extras. Unfortuenately, it is expensive at about $130.00. It comes standard with the Audigy 2 Platinum ed...

AMD 64 system - Audigy 2 question (plus some Nexus sourcing)
Hey everyone - I'm new around these parts, although I've been lurking for a while. I have a simple questions, and it's not really quiet computing related but I think you might be able to help me out. I hav ethe Lian Li V1000B case, and there are front media ports on the front bezel. It has the usual...
