You should make sure your VRM's aren't too hot after the Accelero is mounted (you didn't say if you put anything on them). I use a modified Zalman VRM heatsink on the 4890 under the the Accelero. It takes a bit of grinding to make it fit, but it works great.

For what it's worth, the mini Ninja fits perfectly in the nsk2480. The (passive) heatsink sits nice and close to the dual 120mm fans and gets all the airflow it needs from them. It works great for my E8400 HTPC.

The Accelero S1 DOES fit with the Zalman VRM heatsink with modification. The main problem is that the right side heatpipe hits the Zalman heatsink - so you need to machine a groove down the length of the Zalman. I think the heatpipes are about 4mm, so the groove that I cut is maybe 3-4mm deep and 7-...

I believe that the HD2600 series is supposed to slow itself down a bit when running 2D apps. My problem is that Vista Media Center is 3D (correct me if I'm wrong). I have read posts on various forums that the 2600 may not be doing this properly as intended. I have no idea if this is true. I'm runnin...

How can I underclock a 2600XT?

I just installed a Gecube GC-XHD2600XTG4-D3 (2600xt, slight OC from factory) in an HTPC because all of the 2600pro cards seem to be disappearing from the stores. CCC allows overclocking, but I really have no need for more speed. I want less heat. Has anybody successfully underclocked an ATI 2x00 car...

I'm also very curious about this new Asus cooling. They seem to have the same cooler on the 8600GT, 2600pro, and 8600GTS. I've read here on the SPCR forums that there is an Asus software program that allows you to fine tune the fan speeds but I'm having a hard time corroborating this report. In addi...

It's a bit unreasonable to suggest a cooler that is worth more ($45) than the card. My suggestion would be to look into a new card rather than spend more money on an older card. There are many 8400 series Nvidia and 2400 series ATI cards for about $50 or less. Newegg has a passive 2400XT with GDDR3 ...

A 40mm fan running so that it is completely silent is plenty of airflow. I laugh when I see a setup with an 80mm fan on the chipset heatsink.

The cooling difference between no fan and a 40mm fan (barely spinning) is much more than you may imagine.

IMHO, when passively cooled, the NF4 heatsink needs some airflow to keep the temps reasonable. This can be accomplished by good passive airflow in a non-overclocked system, or active airflow in an overclocked system. Either way, it is my opinion that the NF4 should not be passively cooled except in ...

You don't need any special case cooling, just add a small low-speed fan blowing directly on the chipset. It doesn't have to move much air, but it must move the air right over the chipset. I used an old stock Athlon fan that I had laying around with a speed control. You'd be amazed how much differenc...
