Yeah this kind of DIY job is temptive sometimes but I don't like the idea of watercooling because of the lack of mobility. What to do if you need to take your computer somewhere else for a day? Take your 500 litre watertank too? :P or the radiator bolted to the wall?

So a Ninja would cool a E6300 passively if it's slightly overclocked quite comfortably? or we talking about 100C?

No reason to buy 3.5"

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/12/12 ... aptop_hdd/

After 2.5" HDDs such as these start being available, there won't be any reason to buy 3.5" for "silent" computer users.

Graphics card with CPU heatsink?

Has anyone modded their graphics card with some old CPU heatsink? I was wondering about the mount holes :? . I'm sure something like an old P4 or AthlonXP retail heatsink would be sufficient to cool a low/mid range graphics card of today, such as a 7300GT?

Thanks.

OK my P120 250GB is SO damn quiet. It's in an IcyBox external enclosure and when it's idling I can barely hear it, I couldn't ask for more quiet. During seeks my laptop's HDD is louder (seriously). My laptops' HDD is that Toshiba 4200RPM 40GB. I'm really happy :D

Does anyone else think it's disappointing that the .10 200GB will be 2 platters? I read that from storagereview forum. I guess it's because 187.5GB is the maximum density they managed for each platter. I was hoping for a single platter 200GB. I guess I'll just buy .9 160GB single platter HDD.

Hmm I think a nice midrange Merom would be best. But Meroms will cost more than Conroe. But Conroe should be nice and cool running themselves. ATLEAST as good as current AMD CPUs I would think.

Nice review and IS still relevant for non-gamers. However I may have to look for a PCI-E passive card because I don't think the latest motherboards support AGP anymore? I'd like to get something like Conroe but with AGP, though I don't think this will be possible.
