I have three SU-380 PSUs here now and none of them makes noise to any significant degree whether lightly or heavily loaded.

This test had the Yate Loon SM - NOT the SL . Few places carry the SM for some reason. I tend to like fans that can really move some air on full speed yet be reasonably quiet when slowed down with a fan control of some type. Your review caused me to hit eBay in search of one - snagged for under $30.00 shipped! Tell me where else one can grab a PSU with aPFC and full-range AC sensing/compensation for that money? And there were several that could be had for around that figure. Too bad they didn't read your mini-review fir...

I have noticed on Antec PSUs made by Seasonic and probably others that antec (or Seasonic on thier behalf) has the fan makers put their labels on the rotor of the fan so Antec can put their label on the side that shows. Most often the label on the rotor will be off-center. I noticed this on other fa...

This seems to happen only with some mobos and not all. I was wondering how isolated the +12 rails in the SU-380 PSUs are. I only use the 12V1 to power my CPU which is entirely isolated from 12V2 and I'm having no buzz problem from my SU-380. Now if others are also using the PCI-X connector, could th...

Newegg free shipping
I just found out that Newegg is continuing it's free shipping for those who pay with PayPal for an indeterminate period - it was supposed to have ended last night. Check the Hot Deals section on http://forums.anandtech.com for the link and specifics. The pressure! I can't STAND the pressure!!! I've ...

The debate is really simple - it's over control of the air flow and whether you want a really clean case interior or not. Plus, a well controlled P-P setup will usually run a degree C or two hotter than an uncontrolled system given similar total air flow. Most cases are totally uncontrolled and you ...

Well, some of the Silverstone HTPC cases can handle two opticals and six HDDs in stock form. But that Ninja is going to be a sticking point - it's just too tall for lots of cases. And the Silverstones are pricey, of course... If you live in the States, I'd suggest a Rosewill R6A series case (only av...

I use rope caulk (Mortite and FostKing are brand names in the states) to damp ringy panels on the cheap - I used to use it in the old audiophile days to damp and balance turntable platters. I just keep adding random length strings until it's dead enough. Not pretty but cheap.. And you could take som...

Positive pressure means CFM in slightly > CFM out (you don't need to be puffing the sides of your case out - though my intake fan could probably do that). ;) Most PSUs these days don't have a lot of CFM and many cases isolate the PSU air flow anyhoo (in that case, be sure to filter the intake air pa...

Suspend drives in P180.
I understand that the early rubber cords would break and drop your drives (or was that in the 150?) and the new ones like in the Solo are slippery and will let your drives slide out. Doesn't sound reliable to me either way. Rig your own suspension with heavy, athletic shoestrings and 1/8" plastic ca...

Ducts?
I just bought a couple of Sunbeam OCK-B duct kits from Newegg for about $8. each. You can get them with either blue or clear over silver flexible ducting with an assortmnet of adapters and couplers. They were originally about $15. each. It's a bit late now to take advantage of the free shipping prom...

Re. Nebulous question..
Yes.
Did you bother to use the Newegg case selector, eh?
If you want more, give more. The no. of drives is only part of the equation.

Here are a few more cases with PSU in bottom front: [L=nMedia PC, a div. of Enermax, 300 series]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811204008[/L}. Having or had trouble with Sunbeam Rubber Fan 'Screws' ?
A group of us at forums.anandtech.com have had no success whatsoever with these so-called Fan "Screws". :x Our attempts to pull them thru any normal fan mounting hole are met with either failure or destruction of the rubber pin no matter what lubricant is tried. My conclusion is that the rubber is e...

Sunbeam rubber fan "screws"
Here is deceptive marketing for sure. Has anyone here tried to use these t hings? Any had success? The opinion among a group of us at the Anandtech Forums is that they are total crap and don't meet even a loose interpretation of the merchantability (fitness for purpose) test. I'll be starting a thre...

I was looking around for another fan and found that http://www.allelectronics lists lots of Nidecs but many are unusual voltages. I would expect that the 24V ones would also work at 12V (maybe lower) as the 12V ones will usually work down to 5V... AE like BGMicro is an odd-lot reseller so it's catch...

http://www.bgmicro.com occasionally has a Nidec or two. Same with sidewindercomputers.com and thermalfx.com I also see several Nidec 80mm on eBay, but I'd take the 92mm from bgmicro if it'll fit (or make it fit ;) ). I have one here running off my fan controller - nice and quiet - generally great fa...

Inexpensive case damping material
 . I recently bought a Silverstone Berserker case (my review here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ ) and found that the top panel was made of thinner material and was totally undamped. The result is that the thing rings like a bell as it comes from the factory. I used random lengths of rope ca...

Power Factor calculation
Great article on power supplies - I wish the other fanboy sites were nearly as scrupulous in technical matters re. PSUs etc.
. The proper method of calculating Power Factor is: PF=Cosine of the phase shift between the Voltage and Current wave forms in degrees.
