I have the Solo as well, and also agree that the HD indicator is way too bright. The vents on the right side also leak light from the power LED. I sure wish they would use some kind of diffuser (such as frosted plastic instead of clear) on the LEDs, much like they do in CE products. I thought about ...

I have the WD3200KS 320Gb, and it is way quieter than my old Maxtor Diamondmax 9. To me, the drive kinda reminds me of the faint sound of a bag of marbles clanging together when it's accessing, if that gives ya any idea. :D If I had to guess, I would say it ranks pretty high up there, as far as quie...

Kinda reminds me of mine Ralf. The P-150's/Solo's are classy cases...the back fan holes look so much better without jaggy edges. I tried the Red Wiss M1R's, and they are too big...the Dremel is the only tool I've found that will get into the tight corners of the fan holes in these cases. [img=...

Unless you are going to use some memory intensive apps, or multi-task alot, I would say 2 GB is plenty. Besides, I think Win XP 32-bit only handles 3 GB correctly, at least with some motherboards. For a DVD-burner, I went with a Samsung SH-S182D 18x...reasonably quiet and works great so far. If you ...

I cut out the back grill in my Solo as well, then lined the edges with rubber U-channel. I tried using the tin-snips, but ended up using my dremel because the snips were too big and awkward to get into the tight corners...all of this was done before components were installed, of course. :D Here's a ...

Interesting. According to the Asus software im getting 106F (41C) CPU and 95F (35C) Mobo idle, with a very similar setup. Nice setup there. I have a similar system using the Solo and Conroe and I haven't made much mods to it with regards to cutting out the grills. Whats the black plastic that you used to wrap around the edges? Also have you cut off the grill in the front as well? I am just wondering if it will make mu...

Kinda sounds like an overheating issue. This may sound obvious, but is the CPU cooler firmly/correctly attached? Did you apply thermal compound? Is the CPU fan plugged in? Also, make sure there is no plastic protective film on the bottom of the CPU cooler. One of my buddies recently built his system...

Looking for best DVD burner for the buck
Ive been looking for a new DVD burner for a few weeks now. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money, but I want something that is reasonably fast, and has decent build quality. I have an older Plextor PX-708A? drive, and while the quality is there, the speed and reliablity aren't. All opinions ...

Re: videocard heatsink removal
Another thing... Is it scary removing the stock heatsink from the Geforce 7900? It's not stuck on with more than just simple clips is it? No, pretty simple really. You just unscrew the (4) screws on the bottom, and it basically falls off. :D The Lite-On drive is an old one I robbed out of my other ...

Silent Trio: Antec Solo and Core 2 Duo build
Here is my new system I just built last weekend. Everything is completely new except my trusty ole Seasonic S12-430 and older Lite-On drive. Everything is runnin' bone stock(no OC) right now, as I haven't had time to play around with it that much. The cabling is isn't the prettiest, but it is out of...

I have the P5B Deluxe, which is a pretty good board, if you don't care about SLI/Crossfire. I think there are several options, such as Q-fan to control fan speeds, though I haven't played around with it much yet. However, if you feel the need to have the SLI setup, I would wait a few weeks for the N...

I have the E6600 with the P5B Deluxe WiFi. I chose the P5B Deluxe because it is a newer design, designed especially for C2D's, which with a few BIOS updates, should be faster than the 975X, and I too, don't have any plans on using SLI/Crossfire. One side note: You will probably have to update the BI...

I'm building a similar syetem as we speak...just waitin on the processor. Most components look good from here. Re: Non-Intel Conroe Motherboards?
After a bit of digging I came up with the Asus P5W DH Deluxe, but that's a crossfire motherboard, and looking around I'd rather get a 7900-something. You know you can use an Nvidia card on a Crossfire mobo, right? You just can't use two of them. That's like putting a big Ford sticker on the back wi...

Will the S12-430 handle a Geforce 7900GT KO?
I'm building a new system with an Evga 7900GT KO(single card, no SLI) and would like to re-use my trusty ole Seasonic S12-430. The problem is, however, that the card says it requires a min. of 450W and +12V @22A. The rest of the system will be pretty straightforward...single HD and optical, etc. I d...
