Preparing For Dual Core

I'm about to go dual core and was wondering if I need to install this Microsoft hotfix prior to shutting down my computer and installing a dual core Opteron 170. Is it even the right hotfix? http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256 Can I install the hotfix after putting in the new CPU or will XP not ...

I have a Scythe Ninja installed and running passive in my A8N32 right now. Clearance and weight are not issues for me. Regarding the fan, the Ninja with a 120mm fan works fine for me when the fan faces towards the rear. One thing you might want to note is that you cannot use the little blower fan in...

Yea on another forum I saw some pictures a guy posted of his A8N32 having no transfer material between the heatsink and MOSFETS. I was curious and popped the heatsink off myself and, sure enough, nothing there.

So I suppose it's OK the way it is as long as I don't perform any heavy overclocking?

MOSFET Cooling Necessary?

I was tinkering around with my A8N32 and noticed that the silver heatsink that covers the MOSFETS has absolutely no thermal compound to aid in heat transfer. Why would they skimp on applying thermal compound to units attached to a heatsink? Is this OK for the MOSFETS or should I go apply some AS5 wh...

Was it difficult to pull the 2-pin housing out of the X800XL? I want to do the same to my 7800GT but I'm worried that I might break a pin or two by applying too much pressure with pliers.

Have you tried covering up the cable opening of the V1100 dividing floor with some type of foam? Temperatures dropped 2-3C due to heat from the...

A Scythe Ninja should have enough clearance installed on an A8N. My Scythe Ninja on an A8V Deluxe hovers around 1/2 in to 3/4 inches over the base of the V1100.

Hmmm, well being one for stability I might just go ahead and spend a morning formatting the windows drive. Having to search for each and every driver linked with the A8V Deluxe everytime a critical error comes up would get pretty annoying in the long run.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

Format Needed When Installing New Motherboard?

Quick question, I am currently using an A8V Deluxe and am going to install an A8N SLI Premium, do I need to format the windows drive?

If I don't perform a clean install of winXP upon new motherboard installation will it be safe, if not, what problems can I expect?

If it weren't for the rippled edges on each fin, the Coolermaster Hyper 6 would probably qualify as well.

I did this a week or so ago. Just pull the wires from the 4-pin molex ends using forceps, or whatever tool you have, splice the ground wires together and wrapped with electrical tape.

I'll probably do the same for the other two Nexus 120s whenever I do a complete case cleaning during a school break.
