I think that is the real interesting thing to find out. What motherboards work with speedfan when a 3 pin fan is connected to a 4 pin header.

Iron_Dreamer, you say that Gigabyte 965P-DS3 can control the cpu header with a 3 pin fan? Here is what Intel says : Note: when using a 3-pin power connector with a 4-pin fan header, the fan will always be on; there is no fan control. So, can you confirm that you have a 3 pin fan atached to a 4 pin h...

Core2Duo motherboards with Speedfan controllable fan headers

We have this thread , but lately the users haven't been too generous about sharing information with the rest of us about their motherboards. :) I want to make a simpler thread. I am just interested in the speedfan support for core 2 duo motherboards. Since there are a lot of user here with c2d mothe...

My well-known thesis here is that it's hard to have both overclocking and underclocking at the same time Now we all know that's not the case and RMclock is a godsend. I have...

Sorry to bother, but why did you exclude enclosures? If i were you, and had the $, i would go for a smartdrive 2002c. With the air from the front fan it will be no problem temp wise. With an enclosure you get rid of the idle whine, which i find worse than seek noise. Idle whine won't go away with th...

nici, is there any chance you could get your hands on a SmartDrive2002C? Since we know from the review that the SmartDrive is better than the old Scythe box, it would be nice to know if the new Scythe quiet drive can claim the title, or if the SmartDrive is still king. 8) I am thinking of getting 2 ...

It also has another fan control feature through bios called ASUS Q-Fan2, but i prefer to disable it and stick with speedfan.

Look here ..some fans can work at low duty cycles below 10%, but some can stop even at 50%. Due to this specific, by default the minimum value you can set is limited with 25%. However, you may override it with MinFanSpeedLimit registry entry. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3508/fan4rl.th.jpg

Take a look here The clicking problem seems to be created by the LM63 fan controller chip Most of the ATI boards contain the LM63 fan controller chip. This chip is not just varying the voltage in order to regulate the fan speed, it is also sending voltage peaks up to 25 Volt. This can cause a clicki...
