the latest hard drives from Samsung and WD are so quiet you would need to have a fanless PC for the HD to be main source of noise. Not true! I have the WD 500GB hard drive and while it is much quieter than some of the other hard drives, it is the main source of noise in my computer. I'm using the S...

mine (Phantom 350) finally died after more than 2 years of continuous use. the 5V rail still works as my motherboard LED comes on, but it is unable to boot my computer. it's too bad, because when i replaced it with another power supply, there was hiss injected into my sound system. the Phantom was d...

i think it has been said here before, but anyway the practical benefits of watercooling really shows itself when you have to also cool power-hungry GPU's. the stock cooler simply isn't enough unless you've got many case fans. watercooling can cool it much cooler/quieter than any aftermarket air cool...

those strange figures like 6dBa are obviously not measured, but actually they might be accurate after all. 6dB would be pure BS, but 6dBA could be correct since lowering the RPM would also lower the frequency and in the dBA scale, it attenuates very rapidly below 100Hz in comparison to the dB scale....

Pentium4's are pretty easy to run cool and quiet, even the dual cores. But you can't just slap on a heatsink and be done with it like the A64, there's a lot more to it. But still, even two dual-core P4's can easily be cooled and silent if you know how. most people in this forum are not the DIY type ...

I used to see some places that sell quick disconnects for cheap, but I no longer have the urls. The place I got mine from I can no longer find. This place sells them but it's a bit expensive!

Yeah I agree that the CSP-MAG is loud unmuffled, maybe slightly louder than a Seasonic PSU on idle, but muffling makes a huge difference. I covered mine completely in 3/4 inch of dense clay, and then an inch of dense wood. You can also use uranium which works even better than wood. If done right, yo...

congrats on getting a phantom 500. it is an excellent choice as long as it fits into your case. that thing is abnormally long that it won't even fit inside my case! so i have phantom 350 instead. i don't expect your phantom 500 to spin up much, since most computers use a lot less power than people t...

dust is the reason why all-passive computers is an advantage over quiet fan-cooled computers. my computer doesn't have dust! dust filters are a bad idea in my experience, like the poster above mentioned, far more dust gets blown through your computer rather than collect, so if you install filters th...

Ahhh that's exactly what I speculated those things would be and I just wanted to be sure. Well... I think that's a lot more cooling than one will need! PSU's are easy to passively cool as long as it gets good air, as is the CPU and northbridge. Some GPUs are harder to cool but still aren't too diffi...
