Guys there are other posts commenting on the fact that people seem to under estimate the power draw of the 7900gt. Its good but not less than a 7600gt? why would it have a psu power connector, which is for GPU's drawing 75watts+? Also the 7600gt, at peak, draws just a couple of watts more than a 660...

Why do so many people believe that the 7900gt produces less heat than a 6600gt? It cant be true check the reviews again? For a start the 7900gt requires a power connection to the PSU meaning whatever the measurement it needs more watts than a 6600gt and will therefore produce more heat. A 7600gt at ...

Given the fact you've bought all the components already (perhaps some weren't ideal for a quiet pc) the best route would be a reserator. Expensive but it will yeild the best results in your situation. Once that is taking care of your CPU and GPU you can work on removing/replacing small fans and perh...

Single slot 6600gt PCI-e cooler - is there one?

I'm running a MCE 2005 PC and want to free up a PCI slot on my mATX board (which is in a tower case) to put in a second TV tuner card. Currently I use a VF700 alcu so I need to find a quiet single slot solution. I've looked hard to no avail - please help!! Also could any bright spark tell me if it w...

I used to have an aria with the stock components listed in my sig (hot admittedly) and it was one of the loudest pc's I've heard. Unless your using a low power machine with on board or very basic graphics you need a full size case with proper heatsinks, 120mm fans, aftermarket VGA cooler, suspended ...

Nexus 120mm - safe starting voltage

In my system I have a front and rear nexus 120mm connected to a Akasa fan control jnr, I set the fan controller to the minimum setting. As far as I'm aware they have always started up, but from reading some other posts it seems not all fans can be relied upon to start at 5V. Am I taking a risk doing...

I rarely comment on gallery entries, but have to say yours is probably the best set up I've seen yet. Using the fan in that position to cool CPU and GPU is brilliant. Perikooo, Like the look of that system! In my humble opinion I'd go with the gigabyte mobo, excellent value for money, all the best features. Really I think you'd only want the CPU fan controlled by the mobo as it does require lots of speed adjustment depending on what your doing. The case fans are ...

Right, I just noticed Spods edit on his earlier post, and it seems like the untimely demise of my card could, infact, be due to the ram overheating - not the GPU itself. Edit - there's also the possibility that the GPU was cooled just fine, but the memory overheated. IIRC, the ZM80 series don't dire...

New system case resonance

Having spent ages reading this and many other silent pc sites I have re-built my ludicrously noisy SFF media center PC. Hi Aleksi, Your question seems to be '6600gt or 6800 standard'. Clearly from your links it is possible to passively cool either card, and it would be better for it to be stock passively cooled. I have 6600gt pci-e and I put a hp80d on it (as i see you've also used). This adequately cools my card, HO...
