Cutting down a Ninja ?
Hi there l'm in the process of shifting my Semperon 2600+ matx into a desk top case that's only about 130mm tall. Would l be right in thinking that cutting down the Ninja would completely ruin the effectiveness of the heatpipes ? l will buy a decent low profile cooler when funds allow but that may n...

I have a virtually identical setup to yours except the cpu is a Sempron 3000. The Ninja is massively overkill for your CPU; I use the stock heatsink with a Yate Loon 80mm @ 5V, the CPU runs 1.6Ghz @ 1.1V, currently idling at 30C. You can alter the CPU Vcore and multiplier in BIOS on the 760GXK8MC. ...

Hmmm, not something that l've thought about. l've just increased my fan speed from 5v to 7v and am getting a temp (at idle) of 34 C for an ambient of 25C. l'm happy with that and the noise is very low.. l may muffle it a little but my 4yr old Maxtor is more of a problem at the moment eventhough it's...

Hi people l've just completed ducting my small Semperon 2600+ and thought l'd share a few pictures with you. The ducting is made from 9mm closed cell foam, the sort that is used the the mats that people place under sleepings bags.. l've got a cheap thermal readout module attached to one of the sinks...

Hi People l'm running an ISO 350 Watt (model iso - 450pp) supply in my Semperon 2600+ system. l've opened up the rear vents and have changed the fan for an Akasa 80mm item that's running at 5 volts.. l have a thermometer probe attached to one of the heatsinks and it's reading 42.5 Celcius at the mo....

Thanks very much for your thoughts. l replaced the broken fan with a chunk of heatsink as mentioned in this thread. http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=22440 Things seem fairly cool and the old fan may have met it's maker a long time ago, l just happened to notice it when l took the car...

Any advantages in cooler running ?
Although l've recently replaced the broken fan on my card with a larger heatsink, l was wondering whether there's any advantage to having cooler running. Whilst the original HS was very hot to the touch, l didn't actually have any graphics problems that l was aware of.

l bought my current machine about 3 yrs ago and have been happy with it eversince. A few months l got hit by the 'modding' bug and now find that l want to do something with it's PSU. The one fitted is a JJ-300AP made by Jou Jey (Nope, never heard of them). lt's apparantly got some sort of fan contro...

Just a quick update: Since fitting the heatsink, the card seems to be a lot cooler. l can't measure the exact temp but the base of the HS is now warm to the touch as opposed to burning my finger :) l've also removed the pci blanking plate below it to encourage a little airflow. Many thanks to Seb an...

Thanks very much for the information. l found a small HS in my box of bits this afternoon so thought l'd have a play. l kept the blue fan mount, removed the little fins and managed to mount my new HS onto it with some tiny countersunk screws. l also had to cut 2 corners off of the new HS to get it t...

Just noticed that the fan on my lnno3D tornado GeForce3 Ti200 has seized. l don't know how long it's been like it and the insulation on the supply wires is rather hard and parched. lt's only a little 40mm thing but l've felt the sink and it's very hot.. Any suggestions ?? The heatsink that's mounted...

Modding a stock P4 heatsink ?
l'm considering adding some extra heatsinking to the heatsink that came with my PC. lt's currently fitted with a fairly thin 70mm fan which l'd also like to change for an 80x25 item that l have here. Anyone done anything similar ? l realise that l could go out and buy a larger/better HS but funds ar...
