Re: Mugen 2 or Venomous X?

If you must have a new cooler for two fans the Noctua NH-D14 and the Thermalright Silver Arrow are your best options. I recommend Thermalright (I always do and use them exclusively) as the fans that come with the Silver Arrow are better than those of the Noctua NH-14D. You shouldn't expect too much...

Re: Mugen 2 or Venomous X?

How about option 3: replacing just the fan? The Zalman cnps 10 is a good heatsink, the only problem is the loud fan. Get a Scythe PWM fan and some zip ties. The problem I have is that at 3.7GHz, the CPU temp climbed to 64degC. I could try to jerry-rig a second fan onto the Zalman, since in their wi...

Mugen 2 or Venomous X?

Hi, I have a Phenom II 965 BE rev C cooled by a Zalman CNPS10X Quiet and I'd like to replace this with something which is as quiet, yet cools better. The 2 options I've come up with are either: 1) Scythe Mugen 2 rev B, with 2 Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1,450 RPM fans in push/pull config or 2) Thermalright...

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)

ALERT: The fan placed on the TOP of the case, started to do a TICKING noise in the speed range from 950 to 1150 rpm!!! At other speeds it's silent. I really don't know if this thing started now or if it was from the beginning and I didn't notice. The other fan (front case) is ok I can confirm this ...

I'm putting together a new build with a 1Gb MSI Cyclone soon and just wanted to be clear: you've undervolted your card and OC'd it by 10%? What is your GPU clock now? I assume those are the shader + memory clocks

Very interesting topic, since I live in a dusty place and have 2 PC's in our work-room. My Antec SLK3000B has a 120mm YL intake fan cooling 2 HDD's suspended in-front of the fan, with a filter on the fan. There's a rear 120mm Antec Tricool on minimum speed exhausting air, as well as my Antec SP2-450...

Dang! There goes my theory about the risks of suspending. I've had 2 Seagate SATA300 7200.9's firmly suspended with some climbing rope for the past 6 months, 1cm from a 120mm intake fan. In the past month, my data disk just stopped working and this week my OS/Apps disk started showing some strange b...

I really prefer NOT to replace mine anytime soon!

Hi I bought the MX5021's a few weeks ago and also discovered the identical hiss/hum on the sub, even when powered off on the control-pod. Many audiophile sites suggest that this is a "ground-loop hum", which is occurs between the sub-woofer's built-in power-supply and its amplifier. If so, this can ...

Re: Athlon X2 3800 "Cool 'n' silent" Project

but I have a 6800GT with its stock cooler right now. I purchased a Zalman VF700-cu for it, which in 5 volt mode is quiet enough for me although I'm still open to to other suggestions for a GPU cooler. I did the same recently (Asus N6800GT PCI-e, along with a VF700-AlCu for silence). Then I discover...

If you have a choice between the Opteron 144, 3000+, or Venice CPU's, I'd vote for the Opteron. Most of the steppings o/c very well on stock voltages (which is good for your Asrock board). I'd check on some of the dedicated o/c forums for more info, but I'd be more in-favour of the 1Mb L2 cache too.
