looks like you can already get one http://www.alternate.de/html/shop/produ ... tno=A9BW18
Hopefully, the price will come down real soon. My 74 gb raptor is a great drive.

I wish they had some bracing on that card, seems like a lot of weight off the side for just a PCB to support. I'm sure Asus has tested it, but if you moved your case and your video card broke in half I bet you'd be upset! Actually, PCB is pretty strong. Next time you have a broken computer part, tr...

My NV silencer 6 runs at the same RPM's (1500 RPM) as the ATI silencer 1, so they should be fairly similar With my 6600 GT, I can set the fan speed to 50% for 2D, and 75% for 3D, and it's much quieter than my Zalman VF700AlCu at 5V. You can use a fanmate if you want, or the GPU's onboard fan control...

Most quality 300watt and 350 watt power supplies are more than enough to handle today's midrange systems. Emphasis on quality and midrange. Of course, dual processor, SLI systems do not qualify as midrange ;). However, a quality 350 psu would power a single athlon 64 and 6600/6800/7800 easily, where...

I don't think scsi dvdrw drives would louder or noiser because they would probably the same drive as their IDE counterparts with a SCSI interface (like some IDE/SCSI hard drives). I don't think anyone would bother making an Ultra160 floppy... there's no way it could use up all that bandwidth, and th...

The linux program [url=http://www.linuxhardware.org/nvclock/]nvclock[/url seems to have support for the fan controller in CVS. I'd still like to have the settings remembered by the card.

Fan controller access on geforce cards
Is there a way to change the fan speed of a GeForce 6600 GT?
I've done it before with gainward's expertool, but I'd like the changes to be permanent as I'll be using linux full time.

boscomonkey, Nice to see another bay area member here ;) I went with the 3700+ because it had a 90nm core and a 1 mb of cache. My feeling was you could overclock for more megahertz, but you can't ever overclock for more cache. merovingian, I RMA'd the board to the vendor. I actually had bought a pro...

Yup, it's very fast. The raptor is kinda "loud" though (relatively loud). If the raptor's off, you really have to strain to hear anything. Though, all and all it's very quiet. If the fridge is on (on the other side of the house), I won't be able to hear the computer, or if my window is open, etc, et...
