Assuming you have the mobo from your description (ASUS A8V-E) you are actually overdoing it; there was no real reason to install a HR-05 on that chipset; a fanless HR-05 can keep at decent temps a nforce4 (a lot hotter than your kt890), so there is no reason to install a fan on it; I never used ZM-S...

RivaTuner can show you the amount of memory that a game uses; the idea behind having more memory is that games begin to use more and more memory; 256MB is already at the limit (and while most of the current games run just fine with that much, some already begin to show improvements (in some cases hu...

If you'll look at the updated bench, the roles are reversed .. the Ninja gets better temps than the Ultra-120 (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article46-page5.html) .. I voted the Ninja, because I used it in 5 systems until now and it performed on all of them (from A64 3000+ to C2D E6600)

60 - 70 for a 3700+ ? That's quite extreme (if we are talking celsius) and a reason to worry; and I guess they aren't fahrenheit, since that would mean ~15C - 21C; first of all try the latest version of speedfan (the lastes stable is 4.31; the latest beta is 4.32 beta 17); it is possible that SpeedF...

If you are referring to WinXP than disabling the swap is a very bad idea; XP does not begin using the swap when it runs out of memory (read some guides such as "tweaking companion"), so disabling it will only give you tons of trouble If you are referring to a UNIX based system (don't know what you r...

I doubt that the OC raised the temps significantly; the fact is that the G80 consumes quite a lot and a quiet cooling solution was one of the main things keeping me from getting one ... I now have the HR-03 and I'm quite happy with its performance; I wonder how they plan to cool the NVIO chip & the ...

When I got the passive Gainward 7600GT it was going for +$2 vs. the normal version with a fan; I don't think that it's a very good deal to buy a standard 7600GT and fit it with a ZM80D (which is a real pain in the a** to mount), in order to get pretty much the same results as you would get out of th...

Not directly related, but anyways; the ZM80D doesn't seem to do a very good job; I have a Gainward 7600GT SFX (the fanless version), clocked standard; the airflow is provided by a Nexus 120mm @ 500RPM and by the fan of the Seasonic S12-430; it's idle temps are 45C and load 60C (the ambient was kept ...

I use the HR-03 with an OCed 7900GT (no volt mods, 540 / 1550); the temps are ~44C at idle and 73C at load (obtained after 7h:30m with rthdribl on full-screen 1280x1204); the ambient temp was kept at a constant 20C http://pc.synbiant.com/img/thumbs/C2D%20V2.jpg The Nexus in the upper chamber runs at...

In Romania a lot of e-tailers seem to have HD160HJ on stock (at least so they clame), so I guess that it should be easy to find one for you (Romania isn't exactly a hot-spot on the map for new hardware of any kind); haven't seen one until now, but it should be pretty good if it's a single-platter dr...

In my experience WD 1200JS / 1600JS / 3200KS are louder than any of the P80 I tested (2 original SP1614C and 3 HD160JJ); if by Caviar you are referring to 500KS, that's a different story; it seems that the 500KS is different from the rest of the line and is significantly quieter; I would advise you ...

As far as I know only Rev. >E has the 1.1v limit; on 3 different CPUs (Venice E3, Manchester E4, Venice E6) I can confirm that 1.1v is the lowest possible voltage. The mobos I used are ASUS A8V Deluxe, Abit KN8 Ultra, DFI NF4 SLI-DR, DFI nF3 250. The only CPUs that I've seen with less than 1.1v are ...

It depends on the TDP of the X2; the lowest TDP for X2s that I have seens is 53.1W; I previously used a 3000+ Venice with a TDP of 38.2; it was undervolted to 1.15v and with a Ninja and an exhaust Nexus 120mm @ 700RPM the load temperature was about 50C (ambient of 28C); the X2 3800+ with 53.1W TDP, ...

Apparently, only the X2s with 1MB L2 / core come with the new cooler with heat-pipes; and the difference between a 3800+ and 4200+; you can expect a small increase in FPS, but nothing spectacular (maybe 3-6%, depending on the game); pretty much the same goes for 4200+ vs 4600+, althrough here the di...
