here we are http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7503/bench4ux.gif if you're purely after every bit of performance you can get, seagate seems to be the way to go. im curious how the burst speed is only what one would expect for a sata1 drive.. although the maxtor and a 7200.9 ive tested in the past (bot...

Where did you get it from, was it by mail and are you not going to try another in case it's just a faulty drive? yes i im always concerned about that, but i work at a computer parts store and tested 2 7200.10 drives in shop, they both sounded the same in noise, then took one home and yes... in a qu...

I just got a 7200.10 320gb sata2 today. To me it is NO GOOD.. now i do have a slight hearing impairment where some high frequencies irritate one of my ears .. i have 7200.7 and 7200.8 sata1 drives which do not exhibit such problems. I also managed to note it is louder than either one of these drives...

ive seen a prescott idle at 55-60C and thats after i gave the HSF a full clean.

remember not all CPUs are created equal so just leave it as is (but clean it of coarse and check its seated properly) then if you encouter stability issues seek better cooling (which you are anyway i presume)

The nexus is practically silent at a low rpm, i cant even hear it up close.
Its uncomparable with the crappy zalman fan.

the 2 i bought last month sound quiet, very nice fans compared to my antec sonata one (this fan is still quite good), zalman 7700 120mm and a generic "quiet" fan.
Although i havnt compared them to a panaflo.

well unless you are suspending the seagates (or some other form of dampening) they will be noisy.
From memory the samsungs have a decent warrenty so they are also a good option.

Of course it all depends if you will be doing any modifications to your case (i.e suspension)

I'm still trying to figure out how to measure temps on the card. ait tool http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ mine sits at 40C on idle WITH airflow around it, so if you get higher temps than that i wouldnt worry unless it becomes unstable edit - oops didnt realise this was from the first page haha

just cut a couple fins off it, should be ok unless your graphics card has a big cooler

however i've dealt with this board a fair bit and have never had any stability issues, if your case has some airflow it will not be problem with the stock heatsink.
