2TB SSD is $300, 2TB HDD is $70.
This drive will be mostly for storage. But, I will also install operating system on it to use from time to time.

Could you suggest 2TB 2.5" or 2-4TB 3.5" silent hard drive?
I'm thinking of buying a quiet regular hard drive for my desktop. The last quiet 3.5 hard drive that I had was Western Digital Green WD20EARS. I don't know how loud current Seagate and Western Digital drives are. I am guessing newer Western Digital Blue drives are better than the old green drives. S...

Re: Intel Core i3-2100T & Core i5-2400S Low Power CPUs
there is a 5C degree difference between 2100 and 2400. that can make a difference for building a fanless system. it would be interested in compare them in a desktop maybe with 1 fan at the exhaust, no other fans on the CPU or intake. you reviewed a fanless system a few days ago. if you still have th...

Re: What is the biggest size 1 platter IDE ATA 3.5" drive ri
Thanks for your response. I am looking for IDE drive, not SATA. The problem with Western Digital is they use different platters on the same model. If I could guarantee this as at least 2 platter, I would get it. They also have WD2500AAJB which is 250GB. But, if this is 1 platter I would prefer this ...

you should also include results with no fan, testing outside a case... makes passive cooling tests worthless, since inside a case with a single exhaust fan, you'll have more airflow and completely different end result. tests should be done in a case. nobody is using open. results would be different...

Re: SilenT3: A new SPCR-certified system from Anitec.
1. why didn't you use E8500/E8400 for the processor, is it the price or heat issue?
2. is it possible to replace the Momentus with 7200rpm notebook drive with similar noise?

I used to think multi rail was better than single rail since power source would be independent in each rail. But, I researched after you mentioned. Some people say single rail might be better for high power systems. As you said, some multi rail power supplies maybe actually single rail. I think at l...

Thank you for your suggestions. The problem I have with Antec True 380s is after a while PSU heats up and fan ramps up and becomes noisy. 1. I looked at the Antec Earthwatts before. I saw them at sale a few times. But, many people say they are loud. I am guessing it is similar to my Antec 380. 2. I ...

Kill A Watt readings
Kill A Watt is showing at full load my computer is using around 166Watt/260VA. Power supply is Antec True 380s. I think it has efficiency 65%. I would like to buy a power supply quiter, cooler and more efficient. What would be the minimum watt I would need? What would be a safe watt with some levera...

Where to get Samsung SP80 hard disk with Nidec Motor?
I have a SP0812C with JVC motor which has a pitchy motor noise. It bothers me a little bit. Seek noise is so so. I wished it was quieter. I would like to buy another SP80 with nidec motor. But, all the ones I found are SP120. From the reviews, it seems like SP120 is louder than SP80. Where can I fin...

Thanks a lot for your reply. I was leaning towards Antec. I know that many power supplies are labeled quiet, but actually they are not. I am a bit suspicious of the 120mm bottom fans. My BIOS states that the temperature around my CPU is 40C. However, when I touch, CPU sink is pretty cold. 40C should...

I was thinking of Thermaltake Silent PurePower TT-420AD at Newegg which comes to $38. Reviewers are saying it is quite, but I did not see it mentioned on this forum. I also do not want to have power supply with two fans. Antecs have good reputation too, but I do not see them mentioned here either. S...

Thank you for your replies. I have found FSP300 series power supplies which are in my price range; however, they have 15A on 12V line. If I am not wrong, both Sparkle and AOPEN rebrands Fortron PSUs. FSP350 has 16A and comes around $50 including shipment. Also, I am concerned of the power supplies w...

Any ATX 350W 12V/18A quite power supply less then $30?
Hi: I have been looking for a quite ATX power supply with more than 350W power and 18A output on 12V line for Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz PC. But, suggested Seasonic, Enermax, SilentX power supplies are more than $50. Is there any power supply with a few dB more noise than Seasonic for less than $30? Thank you.
