"Current drivers are *not yet* supporting the Powerplay power-saving technology in the R48xx cards."

How can you be sure of this argument and how do you know that the power play power savings incompatibility is not a hardware but a driver issue?

what is wrong with the 4850 idle power consumption. I was seriously considering buying one, but after seeing the results I am a bit confused. More then 40watts idle consumption is outrageous. My current card doesnt even burn that much under load (a seriously overclock 7600gs sonic). 40 more watts un...

Every single dvd drive can be easily quitened with nero. So no need to add a new parameter to my dvd-drive selection mechanism.

The most important parameter for me is the writing reliability of the drive, correctable and uncorrectable write errors on different medias.

the sterling engine will also use some of the heat as source of its mechanical energy, thus cooling the chipset even further.

The idea (if works as intended) is great. Think about cooling all the heater elements in a computer with their own heat.

I've been surfing on the net (who doesnt) and seeing some weird and scientifically impossible claims about thermal pastes. sound in itself is converted to heat as it touches walls, as is soaked into to enviroment.

Since heat is just the vibration of atoms.

well I had the same problem with vista-32 and speedfan.

Just run speedfan in administrator mode, you'll be able to see the harddisk temps from smart info. (right click speedfan link and select "run as administrator" )

If this works edit the speedfan link to always run as administrator.

lol, the whossing sound is not coming from the fan. It is coming from the psu. I've turned the fan down to a inaudible range and verified that it wasn't the fan (turned it of completely)
