the 80nm r600 will have about 30-40% more heat output. yay. i rather have slower clock and more memory by far. Wouldn't we all? But this is ATi you're talking about - queen of the hot-running high-MHz cards since the X1800 series. Their stupid hairdryer loud fans attached to 80+ degree Celciu...

We know the 8800GTX is too long to fit in a P150/SOLO case. But the 8800GTS does fit. How much clearance does the GTS have? Is it enough to fit the card at the top of this image? The one at the top is the older revision of the new R600 (that's the high-end ATi R600 card that's due out in a few weeks...

Re: 8800 series stock fan noise feedbacks
So the GTS sounds much louder than the GTX under load and likely when idle as well. I don't know that I'd go on one review for each. Maybe if you had like half a dozen opinions of each (which you're approaching now at this point in the thread hehe). How do the actual physical coolers differ? Are th...

dilemma: Love my P150 but it will not fit 8800 series GPU...
I'm not sure what to do! I'm going to be upgrading shortly and since ATi won't have competing R600-based GPUs on the market until at least July (and probably not even then), my only option is the 8800GTS. P150 will not fit an 8800 NVidia card. It's short about an inch in clearance. What case would y...

I love my P150. I bought a different PSU since I bought the P150 when it first came out and the NeoPower 430w PSU it came with had issues with some Asus motherboards (which is the type of board I had). It's been a wonderful case and the ONLY thing I can say I dislike about it is that I measured and ...

I'm getting a lot of contrary opinion here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=27&threadid=2006138&enterthread=y Btw, the best approximation i can make for the sound is sorta like a very subdued version of the flickering light sound effect found in some games like HalfLife 2, where a...

--------> HELP PSU odd noise concern from Antec PSU
I just installed a brand new Antec TruPower Trio 550w PSU and whether it's on or off (as long as the switch on it is On) if you put your ear up against the back air vent area you can hear little "bzzit bzzzit bzzit" electrical noises. They're not easy to hear, but like I said, put your ear up near i...

Okay, sure - some comments: What are you doing that you will need an X1950XTX? If your display is 20" or less, that card is overkill for almost everything. Same with the E6700. First of all you could look at the E6600 if you think 4MB of cache is important (though right now it really isn't and by th...

may I ask what a b-stock version of the P150 is and how one orders it? I would love to get my hands on a second P150 w/o paying over $100 to do so! well the 584 model has a heatsink that is copper and it also covers the RAM chips, which was important to me for longevity. also due to its different design i wouldn't be surprised if the fan was slightly different and that is why it is fairly quiet - ie, the design is different than the reference s...

lol ok. i'm still trying to figure out if ATITool can control the fan on it or not. If it can do that and can read the card's temp sensor it should be able to manage dynamic fan speeds like it does for my X800XL which would be ideal. i really like ATITool and don't want to have to learn and install ...

I took the time to research this very issue. The eVGA 7900GT you want is the N-5 8 4 model. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130033 Be wary of 5 6 x models as most of them were the first revision that had serious hardware problems. They should be off the shelf by now but you w...

While that is tempting, passively-cooled GPUs always run a good deal hotter and require airflow over their heatsinks so you will obviously need a bit more case fan airflow over it than an actively cooled videocard. Also, the lack of heatsinks on the RAM chips is almost unforgiveable. Sure, you can a...

I didn't realize that cooler is any quieter, Ezza. That's interesting. Generally the slim design coolers are all pretty noisy since they are small fans. I'll look into that. Btw, I believe the new eVGA models have an 8 in the part number instead of the 6. ie, the 584 model replaces the 564. The old ...
