strange noise from psu
Hello I'm using an old seasonic from 2005 and it has started making weird noise lately. You can hear what it sounds like with the link below. It does not come from the fan, I disconnected it and it makes no difference at all. It's driving me nuts. Has someone an idea of what's going on? https://soun...

If I had a good spare 92mm fan, replacing the stock one is what I would try first. That's what I did with my 3000+ (which is a bit overclocked at stock voltage). I have the box heatsink with a 92mm SE2 mounted with wire and I find the result satisfying. The 3800+ is not exactly in the same league as...

That should help you.
The 6600GT power consumption is about 45-50w at load.

When you have a chipset heatsink reaching 95°c, you can be sure it dissipates some serious watts. But I read an article where they evaluated the power consumption of different chipsets on amd and intel systems and some of the lastest ones made by intel for the pentium4 drew about as much as the nfor...

Yeah, I really liked matbe psu tests but lately I have begun to lose a little trust in their accuracy and protocol. First, they don't test psus inside a case. Then, their configuration is just a power hungry beast, not reflecting common setups and even less, silence oriented ones. It remains interes...

35w is a number I find hard to believe for a double core amd. Well you don't have to . Some people just can't believe that there's no more low power than PM. Why? Maybe becasue in every single test they have seen comparing the A64 (or turion) with the pentium m, the intel have been ahead in ...

2 - I was talking about dual core of course, the coolest running dual core AMD I've seen (don't know all models) runs at 2.2 GHz and 35 W (Opteron 175), the problem is just to find them since you first have to start it up to know the TDP.. 35w is a number I find hard to believe for a double core am...

Excellent review as usual of an excellent psu. But I'm a little annoyed with seasonic about the 80 plus thing. These models are nowhere to be found in oem. In europe, there is a german popular site for buying oem seasonic. They have the oem s12 (except the 400HT) but since it's not mentionned that i...

Dunno about any TDP's but I don't think it will be as low as some dual core K8's hitting 35 W . We're talking about three cores, not two. I think you would be quite surprised. It may be 3 cores, but they are greatly simplified in comparison to modern PC CPUs. I think 25-35W would be a good guess. O...

I have read several reviews of this psu (french, chinese, english) and it's the first time I see a ball bearing yate loon inside. If fortron has changed his supplier, it's probably a smart move since the previous fan did not seem good. In france, this fortron can be found at a very low price conside...

A friend of mine bought a targa 3400+ which has a 2.2ghz athlon 64, a non-sli nf4 gigabyte MB with passive cooling for the chipset, a passive geforce 6600, and no fan at all except the 8cm one in the fortron psu. It was sold in this configuration. With the same kind of device as Auz used, with case ...

power consumption of nforce3/4?
Does anybody the power consumption of the nforce3 and 4 for amd?
I saw that it was about half the one of the nforce intel edition which was 29, so it would make about 15.
Can anyone confirm that? It seems low.
And where does the chipset draw its power from, the 3V, 5v or 12v?

In case anyone is curious, I asked Fortron if the circuit board on the Green Power was the same as on their fanless Zen PSU and they said no. Yes, there's about a 4.5% efficiency difference between the 2. Here's a link to what seems a very serious test. It's in chinese but charts are understandable...

12v lines on low power psus
Hi guys I'm interested in the 300W fortron zen fanless but I'm having concerns about its ability to power an up to date system. This psu has 2 12v lines: -12V1 8A -12V2 14A (those are the same specs as the 330w seasonic s12) If I understand things right, the 12V2 is dedicated to the cpu and the 12V1...
