'Cuz thassa mighty heavy sucka!

Whats wrong with the Scyth Ninja? I've had both xp-120 and the ninja. Prefer the ninja in terms of fit and performance kogi Weight! The Ninja is 665g vs. 360g for the XP-90. No matter how you slice it, that's a lot of weight on a mobo. Plus, I don't intend to overclock my AMD 4200+ X2, so the effic...

Wondering if any way to rule out Neo HE 430W failure via SN

I'm building a new system to replace my dying & outdated Athlon 700MHz setup, and have just received my shiny white P150 (I * like * it!). Given the problems with the first-run included Neo HE 430W PSUs, I was just wondering if there might be any way to rule out the possibility of having a defective...

With the P150, though, the case I'm using for my build, heatsink size could be an issue. I doubt that the Scythe Ninja would fit, and besides, that's 620g! Even if most of the weight is at the base, that's still a very heavy heatsink. The XP-120 doesn't have the weight issue, but I do believ...

I'm leaning (with great tilt  ) toward the XP-90C at this point. It's probably what I'll go with since I'm running out of life on my current machine. Likely just enough left to order parts. It served me well, loyal Athlon 700MHz. You'll be remembered. Let's see, that means I need one mor...

Torn between Zalman 9500, XP-120, XP-90, & XP-90C

My old homebrew setup is slowly dying (and painfully out-of-date, technology-wise), so I'm beginning the process of building a new machine, seeking a balance between low-noise and good system cooling. Here's what I want to put into it so far (not counting current still-useable parts I intend to cann...

6600GT or 6800GT, I doubt you're gonna be able to use the heatsink at all, let alone the fan... The board layout for 3rd party cooling on the MSI for the NB is pretty poor. Arrgh, I was afraid of this. And I know from at least two reviews that although the MSI board is given high marks, the NB fan ...

You could also try using double-sided foam mounting tape. It's permanent (rated for indoor/outdoor use) and provides a method of decoupling. You only need a small square at the motor hub. Could you give me a source for this tape? I've never heard of it. Also, given the heat that the chipset'...

As long as you have decent airflow, you really shouldn't need a fan on your northbridge. With as hot as the nForce4 NB chips get, I disagree. And from user reports in this SPCR thread , I would rather have a small fan on the heatsink than rely solely on passive cooling. I feel the small fan will be...

NMB-MAT RB-1608KL-L 40mm--how to secure to Zalman NB32J?

Here's what I'm looking to do: replace the stock NB heatsink/fan of an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum with a Zalman NB32J (the square, gold model) and add the NMB on top. I'm going with this fan from Dorothy Bradbury's site since it already has a 3-pin connector (no rewiring needed), and is only 1dBa louder ...

Will Zalman 9500 work with Antec P150?

I'm building a new machine on paper (until there are funds for the real thing), and find myself leaning toward the P150 for a case, mainly for its airflow/cooling aspects; the HD suspension is attractive as well. Lowered noise is a bonus, since I'm not trying to make a super-quiet machine, just lowe...

Woah...60 views and not one comment...yikes

Yeeps, post viewed sixty times, and not even a "it's your mutant case, you're screwed (pun intended)" reply?

So, let us give this a <bump>.

Nexus DiskTwin vs. CompUSA's version: machining difference?

I'm rebuilding my parents' computer after the PSU shorted out and fried certain components, and picked up CompUSA's version of the DiskTwin just for a bit of damping on the new Seagate 160 GB Barracuda 7200.7. Nothing fancy or super noise-busting, just thought it might help with decreasing Noise Tha...
