Did you ever tried mointing the HDD-s in the 5.25" drive bay areas? I also have a memory card reader in the top 3.5" bay... 8) First I am thinking of something different, than cutting the case... :? BR! No I didn’t because my case has a very open mesh at the 5.25” bay area and the hard drive noise ...

How did you get rid of the 3,5" drive holder rack? I am trying to make my HDD-s more silent (2 Samsung sata).. Drill out the rivets that hold it in place. I then used a dremmel rotatory tool, to cut the sides and left just enough metal to hold the memory card reader in the floppy bay. and reinstall...

My Abit board reports 33°c too (20°c ambient), I corroborated with a temp probe and the temperature measurement is 32°c at the chipset heat sink, so the air cooling the CPU is a lot cooler, with cool and quiet and a very efficient heat sink it is possible to have a CPU a few degrees cooler than the ...

Re: I've put a ton of work into my system, and it's not SILE
An option, perhaps, is undervolting the CPU fan, but will that sufficently cool the CPU? It already isn't cool at 44-45C at idle. My case temp is usually around 32C. Your Thermaltake SI-97 heatsink should do a good job at 7 volts perhaps even at 5 with a 92mm Nexus fan. Keep in mind that abit board...

The shortcoming of this settup is the lack of airflow to the bottom of the hard drive. Watch your harddrive temps with SpeedFan or some other temp monitoring software. Change the mounting setup if the HD temp goes too high. a posible solution: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c278/agus_c_o/hd2.jpg...

Thanks for your comments nici maybe worth a try, but now I’m lazy and kind of satisfied with my setup. The original goals were to make a push pull configuration with the upper front intake and the rear exhaust (I’m want to get a Scythe Ninja or a Zalman CNPS9500 an try it fan less), and the lower in...

I made the following modifications: Swap the heat sink fan, I broke the zalman by mistake and wasn’t able to get a nexus 92mm silent fan, so I tried a coolermaster 80mm and I am very happy with the result, no more bearing noise. I have very low temps at 1300 rpm and at this speed the fan is almost i...

Get rid of that Zalman heatsink and replace it with a fanless heatsink such as the Scythe Ninja. Your army of case fans would easily keep this cool... in fact, get rid of all but one of your case fans and it'd still be cool enough. Thanks for the suggestion but it is very dificult to find the Ninja...

Drive suspension: I really wanted to suspend my hard disk but it is enclosed in a cooledrive 3 so it took me a lot of effort to find the best way to do it. So I figured out that a PSU is a little bit wider than a 5 ¼ so y used the case of an old one. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c278/agus_c_o/s...
