mdearth,
Have you tried having the fan "push" air inside the case? I have mine setup that way, and I get at least -3C by doing that.

Doesn't installing fans to a watercooling system defeat the purpose of silent watercooling? Also, the Bigwater kit doesn't seem silent judging by its design and the fact that its made by thermaltake. why don't you hook up all the hot stuff to cheap $15 waterblocks and just get a real radiator, a 12...

Not sure what the sound may be, but what I've heard around the block is that when a PSU is at its last legs, it starts making noises. I think you may have gotten a defective unit. About the temps going down... let us know if you find out the reasoning. I'd be very interested to know if related to th...

I basically want to make my computer as inaudible as possible while using water cooling. I would just buy air cooling or something, but I would feel stupid getting rid of my six month old 200 dollar water cooling. I did a little research on those Eheim pumps, and they seem to be the way to go. Unfo...

You might be interested in a new article: http://overclockers.com/tips1211/ The guy has no pump and passive radiator and got good temps. Check out what I snagged on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5218332874&ssPageName=ADME:B:BN:US:1 Has anybody ever come by this before? I didn't realize such cards existed. Gotta keep my eye out on eBay from now on, maybe I'll get lucky and come by a similar card based on th...

Nexus cherry-picks the highest quality Yate Loon fans, so the quality of fans directly from Yate Loon ca be more iffy. Also, Nexus installs an in-line resistor to bring the rpm level ~ 1000, which is slower than the Yate Loon normal speed of ~1350. Maybe try them again at 5v, and see if the noise i...

Re: What's your Radeon X800 XL GPU temperature?
My X800XL ran no hotter than 60C after I installed the Arctic Silencer, about the same temps now with WC.figarro wrote:My Radeon X800 XL shows around 80º Celsius in games at a room temperature of about 30-35º. I'm not worried but I would like to know what are the temperatures of other users.
Thanks

I just basically gutted the PSU of both its fans. And I indeed blocked off the bottom "hole" so that the air would just go straight through the PSU. Yeah, that's probably the best way. Bottom line: If it works and is stable, don't worry about it. If it dies a little sooner than it would have otherw...

How warm does the exhaust air at the back of the PSU feel? Can you get a temp reading right at the place of the back of the PSU? What is the ambient room temp? What's the PSU? WHat fan speed setting? Any drives in front? How about some photos? The exhaust air trickles out and feels pretty warm, Whe...

FS: Arctic Silencer AT 5 Rev. 2
I just bought a water block for my video card, and don't need my Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 Revision 2 anymore. If anyone's interested in it I'm willing to part with it for $18 shipped (within the US). I've only used this fan for about a month, and though is quiet and cool (as in cold), I don't n...

tgenesis, Did you make sure you have the fans set to "L" (low)? In that setting they should be almost silent. From my own experience, you don't want to get rid of that top fan. You need that fan blowing out the hot air in the case. I removed that fan in the beginning and my temps went north. I'm get...
