There are a lot of AMD cpu/board combos that do not correctly report temps. All 65nm K8 CPUs have a problem with the temperature diode that means it gives the wrong temperatures. Its just wrong, no solution to it. A couple of boards have temp sensors in or near the socket which give decent temps. T...

Lots of drought in Oz, since about 2002 we've been getting less and less water. Even the major cities are on water restrictions (can only water garden on certain days, no watering cement, no using a hose when washing the car, no filling of pools, etc) Some stats on Sydneys dams, but the numbers are ...

AMD is also touting low power consumption of the RS780 chipset reaching only a mere ~1.2W on idle and has ability to shutdown the discrete graphics when GPU load is low.

Re: Hi, it's your helpful marketing dept.
When all of your product lines are late and/or not meeting projections, marketing slime does announcements. When they're out of actual products to announce, they start announcing dead on arrival, silly, standards. The specification was launched at the begining of this year. I doubt they're even goi...

Very interesting link. I wonder how well the E4000 series undervolt in comparison to the 65nm Athlon64 X2s? My 3600+ X2 runs stock speeds at 1.0V core voltage down from 1.3V. If the E4000 can undervolt to a similar degree, it could be an even better option. Thankfully, the days of Prescott are long...

I know the lack of cool n quiet won't make that much difference, but I really liked the idea of an ultra low power PC. This crappy board has no tweaking options whatsover either, so I can't undervolt. Give RMClock or CrystaCPUID a go, you might be able to lower the voltage from windows. 1.6ghz stan...

You basically get either/or: If there is a graphics card plugged in, the onboard will be disabled. Depending on how graphics intensive the little games here and there are, modern integrated graphics are probably as powerful, if not more so, as whatever you have paired with an Athlon 900. AMD(ATI) a...

In a desktop computer no external cards are turned off when not in use, they all draw power, etc. In addition they dont redirect the video signal so you need the cable plugged into the right output. AMD's 690g based boards are decent for low end gaming. Both AMD (ATI) and Nvidia are working on techn...
