That Jay Car mains power meter has been out of stock for at least the last year, none of the shops will get it in either.
Theres a couple of forums talking about the power meters.

What CPU socket are you on? On 775 you get ~5 mounts before those plastic push pins dont grip properly anymore, you dont get the pressure and the temps jump. If I had to guess I would say that the ninja came loose. Run orthos again, but this time have the ninja verticle and push down a little. Its u...

In Oz it is illegal to use someone elses wireless unless your are given express permission (digital tresspass). A DHCP response giving you an IP is not counted as permission. Which sort of makes sense given our low download allowance and $x/mb over or throttled to 64/64. Also the owner of the wirele...

It seems it's actually more power hungry than the 965. Today's Tech Report article. Conflicting results. I trust TR results, but there is some strange things happening with this chipset. The 965 chipsets get hot when running 1333 FSB speeds, but I didn’t think there was this much difference. Both...

I hope this gives amd the edge. so far, no one is writing anything of note that uses all the cores really heavy-like. lazy programmer folk hoping for faster fsb's and memory clocks, faster gpu's and overclocked 4.0 ghz chips. Lazy programming actually helps AMD's native quad core look better. Good ...

Hows Via's graphic drivers in Linux? I recently bought 4 SK22G2 SE for Office PC's. Their quiet (only the PS and ICE fan), simple to build and cheap (AM2 socket). 3600X2, 1GB, 80GB HD, DVDRW, idle at ~45w, load ~80w. I know they take 2GB of ram, just not sure about 4GB. Also there are only 2 ram slo...

Re: newbie undervolt question
does undervolting an amd cpu make cnq superfluous? or does cnq still work in some fashion? thanks very much. It depends on the motherboard. If you get a motherboard that sets the CnQ voltage to fixed values, then disabled CnQ and use custom Crystal or RMClock settings to set the P states. If you ge...

1. You can't use CFL's in adjustable light switches. None of the ones I've used anyway. And there is a warning on the box when you buy them about such. They basically flicker like mad, even when full. There are dimmable CFL's. The german company Megaman makes good ones and I've seen them for sale a...

There is a 1.9 and a 2.0 GHz version of the 3600+. One has more L2 cache the other has a higher clock speed. The higher clock speed is better for most users but YMMV. The 1.9ghz version is 65nm, the 2.0ghz version is 90nm. Both have the same TDP 65w, but the 65nm version general use alot less power...

In "general" an A64 3000+ was equal to a 3ghz P4 with an 800mhz FSB. Your notebook would be using a 533mhz FSB. Even a AM2 Sempron 3000+ 1.6ghz (the slowest AMD you can buy) would be faster than your P4. How much faster would depend highly on the tasks. You mention intense database activity which is...

The CPU after Barcelona will also include separate power planes for each CPU core. But this will require socket AM3. Can you post a link for this? I'd be more worried about someone taking your ipod than PC these days. When I was at UNI, someone went and took the 2nd ram stick from ~500 PCs. The IT department didnt notice for a couple of months (although it must of taken a while to take all the ram). As far as I know they never caught who it was.

The suburbs in the USA are built so that the only way in or out is via cars. Exactly. A 20,000 population suburb cannot afford a rail line to take 5% of the population to work where the rail line goes. It doesn't make economic sense. I've seen enough buses with 2 people on board spewing out tons of...
