Well, if you consider all the details, the IFX14 has much higher flow resistance than the TRUE, because it has tight fins on both sides of the fan. The IFX14 is really worthwhile only if you have a super hot CPU -- something >100W TDP -- and you plan to push it hard all the time. But it just can't ...

Thanks for the great review! I'm building a new system soon based around an Abit IP-35 Pro and E8400 and was considering the TRUE as my heatsink, but thanks to this review I know to go for the HR-01 Plus since I'll be using undervolted 1200rpm Slipstream fans. I do have one question though, and that...

I like the looks of that Scythe enclosure, but I have a couple questions though. First, can you assemble it without those rubber decoupling squares on the sides? Second, exactly how wide is it without those squares?

The verdict: It's not any better than the Zalman I was already using, and it's a complete pain to uninstall (since it uses a very powerful adhesive to stick to the bottom of the case).

Stay away, spcr.

Can anyone read German? I found a review, but Google translate isn't working for some reason... I really want to see if this is any better than the simple rubber decouplers that came with my Zalman hdd cooler.

Is this a good fan for a psu fan swap?

I have an Arctic Cooling 12025 that I'm not using, and I was going to swap out the stock fan in my Antec Neopower 480 for this one. Is this a good choice? It's 1500rpm and I know the stock fan is controlled and never goes much more than ~900rpm, but I don't know the max rpm possibility of that fan. ...

New Alphacool ichbinleise hdd box

Anyone seen this yet? It actually looks really good. Comes in a single hard drive size and a double size. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=127&products_id=4609[/url] The sides look to be hard mounted, but looking at how the included parts are described, i...

Looks like the same specs, but it's the quieter design that can only be used one way. Does anyone know if it has an rpm signal wire?

Yeah I'm also worried about my temps with this cooler (90C under load), since I have very little airflow going through my Wavemaster, but I don't want to add any noise. How loud is that zalman VF700Cu? If I run it at 5v, is it quiet enough to be considered "silent"?

They'd better just make one with an opaque fan, because controlling the voltage going to LED fans makes the LED's blink and look terrible.

I want one that doesn't have the annoying blue led fan. Why do all these manufacturers automatically default to blue? What if I want a different color scheme for my case?

Oh right. Well I didn't think their silencing article was terrible; they just recommended the cooler master hyper 6+ or gigabyte g-power cpu coolers, and antec tricool or (!) vantec stealth case fans.

Yeah they only gave the XP-120 a 7/10, even though it posted the best temps. They didn't like its mounting mechanism. I also thought that Zalman's products were strangely absent.

I got it too, and I can't figure out their testing method for noise. They seem to think 60dBA is quiet. They did a water cooling kit shootout a few months ago which was seriously screwed up. Frankly my trust that they know what the hell they're doing has been shaken.

Case window

Does adding a window to your case increase noise transmission? My wavemaster is currently pretty quiet (except the hard drive), and I would like to add CM's pre-made window to it to show off my interior. Will adding the window allow more sound to escape or something? I'm not using any sound dampenin...

UPDATE:

Well, it turns out that it was the rear exhaust fan. Wasn't so "stealthy" after all. No worries though, I had an old Zalman fanmate 1 lying around and i'm running it at 5v now, and everything's super silent. Thanks for the help guys!

Oops, I knew I forgot something in my sig. It's a Maxtor Diamondmax10, 250gb, with 16mb cache. Serial ATA, of course. I was looking into the Zalman hard drive cooler/silencer because it's cheap and I've had good experience with zalman. The only thing I'm worried about would be the heat; since the dr...

Thanks for the advice guys. I found an old zalman fanmate 1 lying around, so I'll attach it to the rear vantec and run it at 5v, see how that works out. I'll probably end up reconnecting the front fan and disconnecting the chipset fan, then I'll run prime95 for a couple hours to see how it holds up....

I also have this heatsink on my Asus A8N-E, and I was wondering: how do you undervolt it? That sounds like a good idea to me, since I'm too afraid to run it without the fan but I'd still like it to be a bit quieter. Doesn't sound too bad right now, but there's always room for improvement.

I just joined these forums in the hopes that I could find some useful information about silencing my new system, but I've done all I can and this thing is still loud. I have a neopower 480 power supply, and i'm using the built-in fan control cables to slow down my two front 80mm fans on my wave master case. I was wondering what exact method does the psu use to monitor/alter those fans? I want to know if I could say, undervolt them to 5v. Would that make them quie...

Hey I'm looking for where I can download Asus Cool&Quiet for my new A8N-E so I can change the CPU speed and thus not make much heat or noise.
