s12-380 will probably be just as good. I have a s12-430 in an 3000B and that works fine - largest noise contributor is a Freeser64 running at 8 volts, followed by the tricool fan at low.

Looks almost like my setup - except you changed the cooler and case fan - which is what I'd do if I had to change something (the Freezer64 is OK - at least it will be when I get it down to 6-7 volts, at 8 volts it's still a bit byzzy, and once the CPU cooler is more quiet it'll be the TriCool fan th...

Well if you have the money to spend go ahead :D I've bought an Antech 3000B and I'm quite happy with that. It's cheap as chips and you could use the money saved to buy a better PSU/Graphics card/CPU cooler

I have just built a system using a 3000+ and an AC Freezer64. The freezer is definetely not silent but (just) audible at 8 volts - i'll get hold of a fanmate and get lower on the voltage - but 8 volts is as low as the motherboard will go. Temps are exellent - max load (at 8 volts) is approx 45C - an...

Hmm - perhaps we can convince the lab guys to do a test and find out if a 12 cm fan in a powersupply actually moves more air than a 8 cm push/pull. The review hints that this may not be the case, but hard evidence would be nice. Anyway the case will have a 12 cm fan for exhausting hot air in additio...

Nice review - and just in time for my upcomming build (so now I'm undecided again :)). One question though - is there any reason to think that the 350 version will be quieter (I should be operating closer to max effeciency and I really do not need more power than that)? But anyway I'll reconsider sw...

Hmm - seems that there is no consensus that the SS-301 seasonics are related to the S12 series. According to other threads on this site they definitely are not identical. I did find one German supplier of S12-330's though, but as far as I can see they have no internationaln shipping - I'll dust of m...

Thank you very much for the reply - I'll start looking for the OEM Seasonics. And my worry about the SATA/SATA II seems to have been unnessecary :-)

So far I've been unable to find a local source for a S12-330 - but I guess I'll have to look at a EU source somewhere.

Thanks for tha advice.

Cheap(ish) - but still quiet - system. Suggestions

Hi all, After following the discussions for some time I've decided to build my own PC. Money is an issue and absolut silence is not required (I'm not going to be sleeping next to the PC), but it should still be quiet. Power is not a big issue either - a little gaming, editing my digital photos, ripp...
