Re: Passive video card in Antec NSK2400 / Antec Fusion? (HD6
I don't think the lower end cards can be undervolted easily (my 5750 cannot), but double check. See my link here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=62194. As you can see, I managed to convert a noisy half-height dual-slot 5750 into a quad-slot passively cooled half-height 57...

Passive video card in Antec NSK2400 / Antec Fusion? (HD6670)
Hiya! I have decided it is time to buy a new video card for my PC. It is more or less an HTPC / media server, you can see details and pictures of it in this thread . As you can see, space is very tight in this case, but there is enough room to put an expansion card in the pcie slot. I was originally...

Re: Quiet/Cool Radeon 5670/6670 for HTPC?
Hello! I can't help you, but I'd like to state that I'm in a similar search at this moment. I'm considering getting a fan-cooled 6670, but putting an aftermarket passive heatsink on it.
I doubt any of the stock fans will be quiet enough for my taste.

Attaching regular sata hard drives as external backup drives
Hiya! For my data, which is stored on internal drives, I like to have redundancy. Not a raid system, but a fully redundant 1:1 backup copy. Up until now I've been using external USB hard drives. However for several reasons I'm looking for a new solution. Ideally I'd like to reuse old internal hard d...

Re: Antec NSK2400 Media Host with 10TB
Well, I'm up to 2560x1600 now, so I doubt I can keep it fanless in the next build. Gigabyte didn't even try making a proper 6850, what a letdown. By the way, I'd be happy to rid you of that Minja any time. ;) If you knew the trouble I went through to get that!! First I tried to buy it new - no luck...

Re: Antec NSK2400 Media Host with 10TB
nice! Thanks! This looks astonishing. Good thing nobody told you that this can only hold 2 hard disks. :) Thanks! Yes, I never listen to the haters :D Interestingly, I had the same GigaByte 8600GTS (also my second passive gigabyte) as you did, before my upgrade, but we obviously came to very differ...

Antec NSK2400 Media Host with 10TB
Hiya! Long time no new system, but I'm finally done with my new machine. Since my old Socket 939 motherboard blew up, I was forced into upgrading slightly earlier than intended. The upgrade was a slow upgrade, done in several steps, and in fact some of the components have still been kept (case, fans...

Is there a way to mount the Rev A version to socket 1156? I have an opportunity to obtain a used one of these, but they are by default only compatible with 754, AFAIK. You can buy the mounting clips for socket 1156 separately. Geizhals lists it at /deutschland/a392124.html (sorry, can't post links ...

One question - the WD 1500GB only has 3 platters, whereas this has 4. Would it be safe to assume that the WD 2TB would be louder than the 3 platter model? What's the expert opinion here? I'm looking to put 3 such drives in my computer, so noise is rather important here. There is a WD20EADS in the c...

Re: Other monitoring option
Nice system! The mobo does look lonely, though. If speedfan isn't working for you, hwmonitor is another option: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html Thanks for that recommendation, I'll check it out! And as for the loneliness, I already have a plan. Hopefully this thread will find one more...

Hi, does anybody know anything about this heatsink? It is listed on Scythe's website . However it cannot be found on newegg, and while it is listed on geizhals , there are no shops listed selling it. What is up? Is this item so new that it's not available anywhere? The old one is no longer available...

Hello, I think this product is quite straightforward, also known as the HD203WI, it's a high capacity hard drive. I'd like to see some good information on this regarding noise and power consumption. I have donated 25$, perhaps somebody else is also interested in seeing this. Ideally I'd like to see ...

Re: Donate for Reviews FAQ
Q4: What is the total value of donations needed before a product is reviewed? The idea is not for donations to cover the entire cost of our review, but to subsidize them. The total donation targets for these various product categories are based roughly on real costs: fan: $100 heatsink: $200 hard d...

PSU to Power a BE-2400 system
Hello, The spcr recommended list seems to be full of high cost high power high silence PSUs. However on the bottom end of the list I have some problems. The Seasonic SS-300SFD 80 Plus and Nexus Value 430 both don't seem to be available in Germany. I'm looking for a cheap, quiet (not silent), reliabl...

Antec Fusion same drive mounting as NSK-2400?
Hi, I've got an NSK-2400 case, and am short a couple of screws for it. I checked antec, and they sell the following screw packs: http://img.skitch.com/20091006-qc32fx9gg621ksxxrrqn9w3j1u.jpg As far as I know the Fusion Black ought to be basically the same case as the NSK-2400, but I'm not sure if th...

Any word on the new 2TB drives?
Hi, long time no post. Newegg has a 15% off deal going on hard drives, and I was thinking about getting 2x2tb to put in my NSK2400. They are selling a 5400rpm Western Digital and a 5900(wtf)rpm Seagate . The Seagate is 20 bucks cheaper... does anybody have any experience with either of the drives, h...
