Then I read this thread... Please do tell how you silenced the PC and solved the closet heat problem?...

Digital audio works by sampling the amplitude of the sound at regular intervals. In order to accurately reproduce a sound, your sample needs to at least contain the upper and lower peaks of the sound. The time btw these peaks is going to be half the period of the sound. Hence, in order to reproduce...

Sheets of plastic may build up an electrostatic charge. Doesn't sound like a good idea. nevertheless, it is still an insulator. Charge will only build up in a location if that spot is rubbed with something, and can only be discharged into something touching that particular spot. Furthermore, atmosp...

Re: Best floppy drive?
What is the best floppy drive? Does samsung make good quiet floppy drives? I need a black 1.44mb to match my case I'm going to get. What is the best for reliability? Yes Samsung floppies are very reliable. However, I've yet to encounter a modern floppy drive that was unreliable. I don't think you c...

I have had some difficult experiences mixing USB 1.1 spec cables with USB 2.0 onboard/card connections. Although many non-2.0 rated cables will work fine, not all older cables/connections will work - it can hang your machine at boot when there is a problem, and other times plugging in the device wil...

Once you've heard (or not heard) a 100% fanless system, it's hard to go back. I neglected to mention that the dead ProSilence 350 was in a computer that is in my bedroom, where I could barely even hear it (the slightest hard drive seek noise, it's in a SmartDrive2002)... So you did not have even a ...

Re: Prosilence fanless pro 420 watt PS
Anyone know if this: http://silentmaxx.net/catalog/ps_prosilence_420cpcs.php powersupply is worth the $299? I've came across several references of "fanless" power supplies that had an annoying hum, and weren't worth the trouble.... I'm checking into fanless PS's for my next system build, and so far...

Re: How do you slow down 120m fans with 4 pin connectors?
I like using fanmates since I have a few and they take you all the way down to 5V instead of the 7V most rheobuses do. So I'd like to use these with my 120m fans (Antec,Nexus) but I'm wondering if there will be a problem using a 4 pin to 3 pin adapter or if there's another way to slow them down to ...
