Upgrade time...P180B still viable?

Hey all...haven't done much with my pc in several years, built a quiet C2D rig 3-4 years ago and loved it, over the years its gotten dusty and a little louder. I'm looking forward to purchasing a i7 2600K in the next few weeks and have a few things undecided, primarily which case to use. I have my P...

sweet!

I was under the impression that stacking fans had a negative or no impact on airflow, rather then a positive one?

how much was that pump? I definitely miss my watercooling :(

sounds like you have case cooling issues, fix that and your g3 ti500 should be able to run passive. I could disco the fan on my 6600 and it ran fine, i had a 120 in the front with free flowing air from it to the graphics card though so that definitely helped. if you are that lazy, just go buy a new ...

haha! actually for now, im satisfied with the setup. I'm going to let the AS5 burn in, because right now with all the fans running at about 6-7v (rheostats) The system temp is 39C ~ 10C drop with the ambient temp pretty much the same. The FB123 is great - but doesnt fit over the zalman VF700-CU with...

there are many. The Artic Cooling Silencer 5 rev 2 should fit on your 6800gt, they're large, quiet, and vent heat out the back. Also another good choice - the one I made is the Zalman VF700-CU. I got it for $32 shipped 2day(in the us) from zipzoomfly.com came today. This thing is sweet. The "silent"...

woohooo, my zalman vf700-CU and fb123 came today. The Yate Loon's came yesterday. I get to spend another 2 hours re-wiring my case! Hopefully I can get the fans to fit, and maybe even fix my old fan controller. I'll post pics when i'm done :) I like this cooler weather. With ambient temps of 74F my ...

yeah i'm not sure if xfx does or not - it seems they allow you to replace it so long as it doesnt cause damage... so I guess that means it is ok to do.

Ordered the zalman vf700-cu and the zalman fan bracket. getting all decked out here :)

My audigy 2zs platinum should arrive today! woohoo.

is the VF700-CU compatible with the 6800 models so that if i upgrade in the future I wont have to buy a new one? Thats my complaint with the NV silencer 5, really like it - but don't want to have to buy two.

Yeah, they are definitely intended for use in 2u servers with flow through design. I'm sure I could get some pretty good results if i could make a duct for the rear 120 to pull air through the heat syncs from the front. For not, they have cooled off to around 45c idle, still not perfect, but for the...

I was in the same boat as you. I decided on the TP2 550. I did a lot of research, and while the seasonics may be quieter, i wished SPCR would do a review on it (hence my poll :D ) The main reason i decided on the TP2 550, simple, i got it for $80 vs the $120ish i was going to have to spend on the S1...

I am using the "fan only" connector for all the fans, they have to be set on high to even run. Is the "fan o...

Bring on the critics! My P180 Dual xeon wiring

Well - i've wanted to go dual xeons for a long time, finally I came across a deal I couldnt pass up, and I'm now the proud father; erm owner of a dual xeon rig. Here are my system Specs: Antec P180 Antec TruePower 2.0 550w (single 120MM) mounted fan UP 2 x 512MB OCZ EL PC3700 DDR (2.5 3 3 7) In dual...

true, but they are on the same 'power line" and the fan that is "closer" to the power supply is the one that is stopping first. Even after switching them, no difference. and as to the second one, these are outside of the case, sitting on top actually. less friction maybe it'll last longer too - not ...

heh yeah I think the one that stops faster has more resistance...because even on low the "better" fan stops at the same time as the "bad" fan on high

2 Antec 3ways - 1 spins longer after powerdown

Just checking my thinking.

I have two of the antec 3tri cool fans, the ones for the bottom compartment. If one fan spins longer after being powered down (and being set to high) its a better fan correct? Spinning longer without power means less friction.

Thanks for double checking my thinking.

SPCR review on the Antec Truepower 2.0 550watt?

Is this something that is being considered? Possibly done in the near future? I don't have the money or time to buy two different power supplys and do testing myself. I just received my Antec Truepower 2.0 550 today, and powered it up and it really is a lot quieter then i expected. granted it hasnt ...

I thought it was a great deal - and it was at first, but this thing has only lasted me about 8 months and it already has a nice rattle. The pump was taken very good care of, never run w/o water, etc and it is already driving me nuts with its vibrations!
