Re: Which cooler for a modded 6950?
@swaaye: Is that an original Accelero S1 or a Rev. 2? I'm planning on a cheap 6950 at stock clocks and I've been using my S1 on video cards for 4-5 years now. Just to make sure I'm reading your posts right, an Accelero S1 with a capable 120mm fan (like the Yate Loon D12SL-12 softmounted to my S1 now...

For what it's worth, I've had my Accelero S1 (NON Rev. 2) mounted on both a 7900GTX and 8800GT with NO additional heatsinks over extended periods of time (2 yrs for the 7900) and never experienced artifacting, failure, etc. Caveats are that 1) I didn't OC and 2) I also had a Yate-Loon D12SL-12 zipti...

I've been following the mild debate over whether the 8800GT and other current-gen cards require heatsinks on their RAM and VRM components when used with an S1 or S2. I had heatsinks on all of the above when I was using the S1 with my old EVGA 7900GTX, but I have now had the S1 + Yate-Loon 120mm fan ...

PSU = Corsair HX620 with the bare minimum of cables attached. One 3x SATA takes care of my 2 HDs and 1 optical drive. Video card hovers around 50 C idle and never goes over 62 C fully loaded by Call of Duty 4 at 1680x1050. I'd like to try this elastic stuff, since Stretch Magic is a royal pain to ge...

Use a drill to drill out the rivets holding the 3 HD trays in the 3.5" drive cage, then use Stretch Magic to suspend 1-2 HDs in there. Take advantage of the loopy upside down mobo's alignment of the CPU socket with the rear intake fan to use a Ninja fanless. I get all the airflow I need from the Yat...

I LOVE this cooler. I've had a VF700, VF900, NVSilencer, and now an S1, and the S1 just beats the pants off all the other coolers, ESPECIALLY because it's so versatile. Can't beat having a quiet, efficient 120mm fan controlled by SpeedFan silently cooling your fast gamer VGA card! And now if it DOES...

well, looks like I'm going to green light myself to purchase an 8800GT and then fit my 7900GTX's Accelero S1 to it. I believe I never used the Accelero's RAM sinks, but as far as leaving the power section uncooled, every picture I've seen posted of S1s on 8800GTs has only had heat sinks on the RAM c...

I was considering finally moving from my 7900GTX to this card, but I wanted to use my Accelero S1 on it. I just got an email back from Arctic Cooling confirming that the S1 does NOT work on the 8800GT, so I'll have to hold off on a new VGA card for awhile. I'd really like to avoid having to buy a ne...

I used a VF700 on my 7800GTX, and was happy with the stock cooler on my current 7900GTX for a long time. That said, the Accelero S1, for $20, with a ~750RPM 120mm Yate-Loon strapped onto it, keeps the VGA card at 60 C tops at full load at 1680x1050. I'd really only consider this new Zalman for an HD...

New Nvidia open standard for PC hardware monitoring
From Anand's: http://anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3145 It's a nice idea but we'll have to see how it catches on. I'm guessing motherboard maker support will be key. For this to do much for me, though, it'd have to out-perform Speedfan, which having finally added support for monitorin...

HD suspension?
I just ordered one of these cases. I've been moving my PC around a lot lately so the P180B is awful cumbersome. Also, I've wanted a new build challenge... I'd like to try elastic suspension of my HDs in this, since it doesn't have the P180 series's silicone grommets. Has anyone seen a successful HD ...

I'm thinking about doing this for my P180B. I don't want to drill holes in the drive cage (did you have to drill those holes?). Would it be bad to suspend the drives with Stretch Magic, but have them oriented vertically, i.e. about the same as they are now but suspended instead of screwed to the sil...

My Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 has one of those quasi-wall warts where a cord runs from the wall outlet to the transformer, from which it can be removed, and then another, different wire runs into the router from there. It's pretty small and stays just noticeably warm when plugged in 24/7. I also love the ro...

Now I just have to figure out a way to cool them well ;) A Yate-Loon 92mm fan fits between the front of the hard drive cage and the air grate. 1. Of those who have purchased revB's, have you figured out a workable solution with just the standard clip-down hardware or is it touch and go? YMMV. I would NOT say the stock, included hardware for mounting the SCNJ-1100 Rev B Ninja is a 100% workable solution for LGA775. 2. Of those who have LGA...

What I forgot to say was that to get the 8-pin plug through the case part (as opposed to the black plastic plate part) of the slot, I had to slice off the locking pin on the plug. It made the whole thing too big to get through there. The plug's plastic was really soft though, so I just removed the c...

Hi, I have a P180B and an HX620. I routed the EPS12V 8-pin cable through one of the back, longer slots that the black plastic plate covering the cable holes hooks into. I had to cut a hole through the plastic plate itself to make room for the 8-pin plug. That put the cable emerging very close to the...
