I'll second the Gigabyte recommendation and add a rec. for the Asus P5K-VM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131187 Worth noting that the Asus P5E-VM HDMI should be available in the next few weeks: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=584&l4=0&model=1912&modelmenu=2

LOL Yeah I just sold an HR-03+ on Ebay, same reason. Thereis still a lot of speculation about what aftermarket coolers wil work on the 8800GT. I've seen a number of them confirmed on Xtremesystems but the HR-03 has not been confirmed there. I just got an 8800GT so I'm looking too. I'll let you know ...

I think both the CM 690 and the LL PC-A05B are great choices. The LL case is a full 5" shorter than the 690, so I don't think the 690 would cramp you at all! But I think you're also right that the A05 will tend to be a quieter case.

I would second both the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R recommendation ( although be careful--looks like Newegg got a bad batch recently) and the forthcoming Foxconn X38A, which may very well be better suited to your needs. Early reviews are positive. You will have the option of ddr2 or ddr3, and the option o...

I have one and am happy with performance. Will you have good airflow around the card? I'm not familiar with that case. The card needs some airflow to move the heat. That'd be my only concern.

I think it's the Asus motherboards that have this feature ("Q-Fan?") not the graphics cards. One has to use nvidia software to control fan speeds. This particular fan/heatsink is now on several Asus cards including an HD2600 and Asus claims up to 10C lower temps than stock cooling. It also looks ver...

i haven't installed it. My intent was to give solid confirmation of availability. I'm building an matx system, which means 4 pci slots.
