I just bought a WD3200AAKX drive & AAM isn't supported. So WD dropped AAM from all of their drives?
Did they have to pay a licensing fee for AAM, so they decided to cut costs & get rid of AAM?
I bought this drive from a local shop for $47 & Newegg is asking $75 for it now, so I'm not too mad.

Re: Warning to all SPCR members: do not buy the WD10EALX
I just bought a WD10EARS for my htpc & it doesn't support AAM. What is Western Digital thinking?
I hope Samsung doesn't do away with AAM also.

Re: WD 6400AAKS vs Samsung F3 1TB 7200rpm
I bought a SAMSUNG F3 HD103SJ 1TB drive this past spring & also have the vibrating/humming noise that drives me insane. Is this a trademark of all Samsung drives? The drive is really fast & the seeks are very quiet but the vibration noise is annoying. This is about the 3rd or 4th different model Sam...

You were right, grommets don't seem to work in this case. I tried some different grommets & they didn't seem to make any difference. My Antec Sonata came with soft grommets that the hard drive lays on top of & this setup works pretty well, but mounting a hard drive with grommets on the sides doesn't...

Rubber hard drive grommets question
I've got an Antec 4482B case that comes with rubber grommets for the hard drive, but they're too hard & the hard drive vibrates quite a bit. I was thinking of buying these grommets to replace them & wondered if anybody has used them & what they think of them. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8869/s...

WD6400AAKS - My new favorite drive
Over the past few months at different times I bought 2 WD10EACS drives & installed them in 2 different pc's. At first I was pretty happy with them, but the head parking noise really started to bother me so I finally decided to try a WD6400AAKS. I'm glad I did. Not only does the WD6400AAKS not have t...

I ended up getting the WD10EACS drive. The parking noise isn't bad at all & overall I'm pretty happy with the drive. As whiic said the parking noise is similar to the seek noise of the drive. One thing I noticed is that this drive vibrates much less than my HD501LJ. The seek noise is similar between...

WD 1TB WD10EACS head park noise
After reading all I could here on this drive it seems this is the quietest 1tb drive & is the one to get if you're not concerned about performance which I'm not. The only concern I have is that some of the reviews at Newegg talk about a head park noise with this drive after it's been inactive for a ...

I just took my Scythe Quiet Drive out because I couldn't take the vibration noise anymore. It sounded almost like a bass drum, only very soft of course. With WinXP it wasn't as bad, but Vista is constantly accessing the drive making this bass noise all the time. I have an Antec P150 case & it was mo...

Gigabyte Smart fan control
I'm considering getting a GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 motherboard, but I'd like to find out more about the Smart fan control feature. I downloaded the manual from Gigabyte's website, but it isn't very specific how it works. I also checked Speedfan's website & they don't have this board listed as supported b...

WD1200JB Impressions
I just bought a new one of these hard drives & I'm very impressed with it. This drive went in an iMac so I couldn't decouple it & really the only thing covering the drive is the bottom of the case which is plastic with vents in it. Even with this less than ideal setup the drive is still very quiet. ...
