Re: can anyone recommend a quiet 140mm fan for PSU?
the xbitlabs article is a good one. I gotta decide whether i want to invalidate the warranty though, PSUs are the flakiest of parts in my experience (3 died in 6 years).

can anyone recommend a quiet 140mm fan for PSU?
Hi, I have an OCZ zt 750w PSU and the 140mm fan isn't very good. Are there any good quiet 140mm fans? or failing that has anyone used a 140 to 120mm converter and mounted the 120mm fan on the outside of the PSU case?

Re: SPCR Folds Team Blog
I just started folding again (old 8800gtx didnt let anything else happen while folding). I have i7 2700k @ 3.8Ghz, and a ATI hd6950 bios'ed to 1536 stream processors. My question is what should I run for maximum points? At present running smp2 with -smp and big size, not sure yet how this early retu...

Just wanted to say, this is the only site I've ever donated to, and this was when I was not working and money was tight, I hope this gives you some idea about the worth of this place and yourself Mike. Best of luck in your future endeavours from me (and others) in the UK. :-)

Re: Spinning heatsink
Just my 2 cents ;-) So I take it that you agree that whatever problem they have solved, it isn't particularly relevant to the cooling of PC cpus. yes, I don't think the problems they say they solve actually exist. It just seems odd that all the cpu coolers they compare it to were designed a decade ...

"In conventional FFHS devices, the difference in temperature between the base of the finned heat sink and ambient air is almost entirely accounted for by the temperature drop across the boundary layer. The exception to this rule is lap top computers, where available electrical power is extremely lim...

Re: 600,000 points up to 999,999 points!
hmm, not sure it will boot from USB key, or if the troubles i had was just with trying to get it to spoof a floppy drive. When I first tried getting one up and running I tried a 64bit win7 and upon reboot it said not a valid win32 program ( i think), and am 99% sure they wont support 64 bit software...

just wanted to add my experience. Bump of the Year Nominee  In the end I gave up trying to run my 1066Mhz sticks at that speed. Am running 4x1gb OCZ at 333mhz (667 effective) at 5-5-5-15 1T on Asus striker. It's very stable at that speed and the games I play all run fast so I don't mind really.
