Has anyone thought of noise cancelling device for a PC? Honda accord hybrid has such technology. Why can't PC industry produce one?

Your WD is definitely defective. I have WD SATA1 drvie and it is whisper quiet. I can't hear drive seeking data at all compared to my old Ultra ATA 133MB WD with 2MB cache.
