I think a huge table fan might give you some problems with the big magnets being too close to your drives.

Coolermaster fans? I used to have them before going for nexuses, and the noise difference was barely noticeable. Removing that side fan and covering the hole with some hard plastic though is good. no temp difference, and no more horrible turbulance noise. Yeah the hard drive vibrations suck. I tried...

I agree completely. I miss the history graph feature, yeah speedfan has it, but not as good.

Not sure how much it matters to you, but if you screw a piece of clear plastic to the inside of that side fan hole, it looks a lot better.

1152x864 on a 22inch crt. Was used to running 800x600 on a 15inch for years, so I found the resolution that most closely matched font size with that.

Yeah, the drives were a lot quieter in my last case, but that was cheap and had no ps shelf, so the heavy seasonic pulled out on the back of the case putting stress on my video and sound cards. I also bought a sleeving kit for the power lines, but need to order a pin extractor. Had no trouble using ...

finally have a quiet computer again

I replaced my pentium 4 northwood and radeon 9800 system with an x2 3800 and all in wonder x1800 back in november. Unfortunately I went through a string of crappy unstable motherboards, a bad video card whose problems I blamed other things for, crap like that. Was never able to connect up my reserat...

I have the AIW 1800. Besides the bit of latency on the tv tuner part, which i guess is common with tuner cards, making it impossible to use it for my super nintendo, I'm happy with it. As far as chipset handicaps, I used to be suspicious, but just ran benchmarks after replacing my a8r with an a8n, m...

First thing: The a8rmvp is junk. Just look at their forum at all the complaints. I had one for a few months. Major stuttering and crashing. I just put in an a8n5x yesterday, working flawlessly. It's the same as the a8n-e but with the non-ultra nforce4, so regular old sata, and no nv activearmor what...

The seasonic s12 has an rpm sensor you plug in there. Looks just like a fan cable but with less wires. So the motherboard sees the speed, and usually warns me because it thinks it's too low.

For a while I had a psu fan replaced with a case fan connected there.

That would be pretty sweet for my pentium 2 web server. I imagine it could easily handle the board along with an old 2d graphics card, net card, and one hard drive. But then I'd have to rebuild with an even smaller custom case.

Re: Asus A8N5X

I just recently upgraded to an Asus A8N5X. The bad: * Because of the low price, only the CPU fan has Q-fan support. ASUS has disabled fan control for all other headers, even with Speedfan. That sucks. The first page says speedfan compatible, which is a bit misleading then. I have this board due to ...

I guess I kinda ignored mATX boards in my first search. Maybe I'll check some out. That msi board seems to only gain onboard video, firewire, and two extra usb ports on the back, none of which are important to me.

That abit's a bit expensive. Thanks for looking.

Intel just revised that board and started shipping new ones on the 16th. Minor hardware changes were added to let it support the conroe chips. I had the p4p800 deluxe for about two years. Totally stable. The system crashed maybe five times in those two years, and each time was from me playing new games without updating my graphics drivers, so not the board's fault.
