Small spelling error
The Nexus fan is usually inaudbile at 9V or less unless the ambient noise level is very low as it is in our anechoic chamber. Just change the spelling to "inaudible" and it should be fine. Otherwise, good article. I appreciate the balanced conclusion that (as usual) exposes weaknesses without denyi...

This is a second hearty approval of the 9560SE. I have an 8-port model full of 750GB drives and it easily maxes a gigabit ethernet. It did so back when it had 4 and 5 drives too. Another thing that makes me happy is that the 3ware controller (and other high-end RAID cards) supports OCE - online capa...

Your math appears to correlate well with my memory. I'm out of town so I can't check, but the 697GB figure rings a bell. That gives me about 4.9TB for the entire array, which is very reasonable. Now, in 8 years time, that will be on a USB-4 stick selling at Fry's for $39.95. Adjusted for inflation, ...

I was guessing on the 500GB for overhead because I heard that NTFS uses 10% for overhead. Whatever the case may be, I'm getting a bit over 4.5TB of space. At least, that's what I remember. It's been a while. I don't remember what I'm using, to be honest. It may be GPT and probably is. I started with...

Nice system, Wibla! It looks as if you built the system around a 3ware PCI-X card that you already had instead of buying their latest. I think the PCIe card is much faster for RAID5, not even counting the faster bus speed. The good thing is that the array should be easy to migrate to a newer card if...

What in the Hell are you doing up this hour of the morning.....I thought only crazy people were awake before the birds? I may be crazy, but I bet that Felger isn't. I have discovered that birds are really loud in Klamath Falls. Those brown geese are all over the fields, and they gabble. But, I hear...

Waffles and wet concrete... two phrases that shouldn't be together! I'm a big fan of yeast raised waffles. I make the batter the night before and let them sit on the counter overnight like a sourdough poolish. 1/2C warm water 1t sugar 1 pkg yeast 2C warm milk 2C flour 1 stick melted butter 1t salt M...

Caulk. Silicone caulk can be used to create custom vibration absorbing gaskets where metal meets metal. I used it in a custom case that I made to great effect. If the offending joint is permanent, just squeeze some caulk into the gap and push it in with a toothpick if you have difficulty getting it ...

I would bet that an accurate answer would have to be, "It depends". Three things to consider: 1) Hotter components can draw more power. DC-DC voltage conversion circuits get less efficient when they are hot. The Rds(on) increases with temperature for MOSFETs. 2) Fans draw less power if you run them ...

Suggestions: - Replace the fans with 1) more quieter fans, 2) larger quieter fans. Use temperature controlled fans that monitor the temperature of the condensor coils. - Replace the vibration isolation mounts on the compressor with softer ones. They will work better but will need to be replaced more...

Tuner card in Model 1?
The picture of the HTPC model looks to have a tuner card in it, but it is not listed with the other components. I assume it is a Hauppage MCE150 as the ordering page shows?

They get better PR from having the reviews spread out. It's not just the initial buzz; they want to keep the community talking.MikeC wrote:I really don't understand why Intel wouldn't want them in the hands of interested and qualified media like SPCR.

Welcome to SPCR Brians256 :) Yeah, know what you mean about ProCooling. A shame really. :? Things seem to be getting better to some extent though, right? Isn't Cather back? What's BillA's status? There are a few over at ProCooling that have at least checked out this site. Mainly from guys like ferdb, bobkoure, (me), and others I'm sure, mentioning it. I read every review posted over here and appreciate the hard and honest work done. I bought a Seasonic PSU and a Antec P180 based upon review...
