The Puget computer uses a Venus HDD enclosure. I use one and while it's quiet, it's not silent.

Would a Solo be too cramped with a 8800GTS 640 in it? Or would a 182 be better?

Is there a list of Asus or other brand motherboards that support 3-pin CPU fan control?

Asus P5W DH Deluxe is one. Others?

Thanks.

$1500 Gamer

After studying this site for a few years now, I've finally decided to build a system using mostly parts from the "Recommended" section of this site. My Asus Laptop is working fine but the newer games are getting to intense for it and not to mention it's NOISY when the GPU fan is spinning up. OK, her...

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go with a Bytecc one with fans. Not silent but from what I can tell, the fans aren't very loud. And they sure ain't louder than the VGA fan on the laptop itself.

Nexus TDD-3000 silent notebook cooler... good?

I'm on the market for a good laptop cooler and I found the silent Nexus TDD-3000 cooler. It uses heatpipes to transfer heat. I play games so good cooling is a must. That ATI x700 does get hot.

Besides noise, how does the Nexus compared to regular fan coolers like the Bytecc one?

Thanks.

The new W3J is supposed to be even more of a powerhouse. Same 14.1" Asus beauty but it has an ATI x1600 GPU  . Of course, that relates to more noise because of heat but with ATI's Powerplay you can underclock the GPU at idle or doing apps for quiet. The ONE report I have seen on the W3J is th...

Asus z70va, quiet with Speedfan

I recently bought an Asus z70va and while I'm very happy with it, it's not the most quiet lappy. The cpu fan is fine, just makes a low rumble at all, and hardly even starts when I undervolt the cpu. The GPU fan is whiny. When it comes on, it doesn't go off when the temp is reduced. So now, I'm using...

High budget is right. It's not a high-end system, but it will do games and video editing which is what I want.

Wow. Thanks for the link to the calculator. I calculated my present system (P4 2.4, 512mb, 250gb, Geforce 6800, optical drives, usb devices) is pulling about 280watts. With the upgrade, about 330 (with Geforce 7800gt), overclock, 380, overclock + SLI about 500. $360 ain't bad for that mobo/video car...

Take a look at the Titan Venassa and tell me what you think? :P Yes, I know, it has a picture of a chick with wings on it, and I'm sure lots of people bought it for that. I guess if Scythe drew a scantily-clad woman on top of their Ninja, more people would buy it. But yes, after seeing reviews, I'll...

I already own the case and the optical drives. I'm changing the mb, ram, cpu, vga & hd. The system is going to be all purpose, mostly listening to music and surfing but some games and video editing. So would a Scythe Ninja and a Nexus 120mm work fine for that processor? Also, can you suggest some wa...

Honing in on the perfect budget gaming system.

OK, I've posted here before with questions on which compents to get, etc. So here's the list of stuff I'm going to upgrade to. The system is going into an Antec P160 case. Yeah, it's kinda loud but it does have good airflow and it looks cool. So out with the old and in with the new. Seasonic S12-330...

OK. That's what I figured :( Isn't there a bios utility going around that lets you change the timings even though you can't do it by default? If not then, it's just time to upgrade. This system has run it's course. It was a Sony Vaio system but has several video card changes, a new case and a faster...

One last gasp for this P4 2.4 system

As I said before in a previous thread, I have "generic" ram. I don't know the brand, it came with the computer. The mobo is an ASUS P4B266-LM... Oem board for a Sony Vaio. In fact, it says "Sony" on the screen at boot. The bios is very limited and has no adjustments for clock speed/voltage/ram speed...

Well, I don't get good performance with my current system because the thing's 3 years old. I just haven't had a chance to upgrade it because of money reasons. But anyway, what I want is something that's quiet on idle or surfing the web and I don't really care much about noise during games. So I'd li...

Quieting a gaming system and preparing for a future upgrade

Ok, hopefully I'm on the right forum for this. Here's my current system. I've already installed a few quiet parts but I need more. Antec P160W, awesome case with a huge window Antec Lo-speed case fan, quiet on 6v, soft whoosh at 12v. Thermaltake 550w psu (overkill and hums loudly, needs replacement)...

Thermal controlled fans

Hi. New here. Does anyone have a list of recommended automaticlly controlled fans? I need a 120mm fan that's quiet at low voltage but will kick up a little (but not loud at high speed) when the heat in the case rises. What about the Antec Smartcool? How does it compare to other thermistor fans? Or, ...
