i'm oking for a QUIET and reliable drive - samsung spinpoint
i've got a seagate 7200.8 it gets the job done, but it's a little loud. i'd like to get another 250gb samsung drive and use that as my main drive. the seagate would be the clean drive, and i would ghost everything onto the samsung. then i can trojan the samsung and not care about viruses...and just ...

maybe i'll just go to a metal shop and pay 10 bucks to have it done. i don't plan on doing many mods in the future besides fixing these cables! how should it be "cleaned"? is washing the case down a bad idea? (steel?) i'm getting random shutdowns...after i replaced my 7700alcu with a ninja. cpu temp...

ah so i'm not going crazy. but then why is it coming through my speakers? one more newb question. i installed a new front bezel from antec (old one broke). i had to reinstall all of the little cables into the mobo. one cable is part "hd audio" and "ac 97". i stuck the ac 97 right into the mobo: righ...

i think i'm gonna change over from a p180 to this. smaller, better cable management. really stupid way to "protect" the top fan. i wonder if my floppy cable would reach if i installed the drive on the bottom. ugh and what do i do with my fan controller! why couldn't they just put one hard drive cage...

do you have to protect yourself from sparks? i guess that sounds dumb, but i've never cut metal before. is the thing difficult to hold while cutting? i'd be really frightened of cutting a finger off! any pics of your success? i'd like to turn my p180 into a p182...if that makes sense. wires...must.....

BAD BAD idea...but it does give me complete control over every fan. where did you get the dremel? any guides or protective precautions i should take before tearing apart my case? i've never used a ...

My p180 is demoralizing :(
ever since i saw this: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article741-page4.html i've been sad. EVERYTHING that's bad about the p180 (enough to force me to almost sell everything) has been fixed. GRRR!!! has anybody has success cutting away at the p180 without spending more than 15 bucks on tools? the air...

scythe ninja rev 1 or 2?
the 7700alcu on this opty just isn't cutting it. i like the quietness, but i don't like the load temps. will either the original revision or revision B fit on my asus a8n-sli 939 mobo? is cooling significantly better on the second revision? (more than 2C?) is the installation any better? i have the ...

my brand new opteron 170 idles at 40 and reaches 60!
i just swapped out my non overclocked 3200 venice for this brand spankin new opteron 170. my mobo temp always reads 30C, and when the room is hot it reaches 35C (has a hs and 92mm nexus blowing on it). (core temp reports 38,36, but i'll use asus probe readings) my 3200 used to idle at 35ish and reac...

7700 just not cutting it
athon 64 3200 at stock with a 7700alcu. antec p180 vf700 5v 3 tricool fans on low it's just...too..loud. and when the room is warm, it peaks at 50C 5v (like 48 at 12v). should i try and reseat the heatsink by spreaking the paste (i just plopped it on last time), and try to mod it with a nexus fan? o...

well now i have the following in my p180: 2x 120 tricool fans on low 1x 92 nexus at 12v vf700cu at 5v seasonic430 ZALMAN 7700ALCU..... well i decided that my tricool fans were the source of my noise, but i opened the case anyway. to my suprise, the zalman was making ALL of the noise. even with the c...

zm-mfc1 should i buy this fan controller?
i'm definitely going to buy a fan controller soon, but i'm not sure which one. i know i can't go wrong with the zalman, but i was really looking for something that: can control many fans like the zalman (i have a p180), has knobs like the zalman, but also checks temps. are there none out there? from...

HD suspension in a p180?
has anybody tried it? can it be done? i have a 250gb 7200.8 and the seek noise is very auidible (but relatively quiet). people say that the p150 practically eliminates hd noise and i would definitely like to do the same in my p180.

the tricool fans are NOT silent. i guess they're somewhat quiet, but i wish i had ordered nexus or yate loon fans. they're not very high quality... let me elaborate: seasonic 430 7700alcu on lowest vf700cu on 5v 1x 7200.8 250gb hd 2x tricool fans on lowest the tricool fans by FAR are the loudest (be...
