Thank you. Basically, if I close my cabinet my compmuter is acceptably quiet but then it doesn't ventilate enough. So I'm adding powered ventilation to my cabinet so I can close the door. But with the holes I expect the computer to not be as quiet. I was hoping that carpet would control the echo eff...

Carpet damping
I've got a computer cabinet that I'm trying to set up to dampen the sounds my computer makes while providing adequate ventilation. The cabinet is the right 1/3 of my desk, mostly made from particle board. I was thinking about lining the cabinet with some thick carpet and wondered how effective that ...

AC > DC molex converter
Hello, I thought this was in an article on the site somewhere, but now that I need it, I can't find it. Basically, I just finished drilling a 14cm hole in the side of my desk. I've been having to compute with the desk door open, which directs all of my computer noise directly too me. So I put a hole...

I would also like to hear from anyone that has used this. I bought it for my 5600 fx but xfx put the mounting holes in the wrong place so It wouldn't fit. I just bought an eVGA 6800 GS AGP and am considering hooking it up to that. Has anyone tried it or a fanless cooler with the 6800 GT or 6800 GS? ...

My desk also has a place for a computer box, but after the P133 it was too hot to leave the door closed. I plan on making a hole for a filter in front and another for a 144mm fan on the side. Hopefully 1 144 fan at low rpm will be fine. Inside will be my computer box. I wanted a airfilter with a lip...

Is your computer in the pool room, or is your house particuarly humid? Personally, I think it is a waste of money. If you have decent airflow then this will hardly make a worthwile difference since the humid air is already in your computer and probably being replaced at a rate faster than the little...

When I was in the navy, I noticed that most of the hard components used metal filters. Not the thin grid patterns sold OTC but about 1 inch thick mesh filters. The tech would clean them and apply a light coat of oil. I don't know how often the metal filters required maintenence but the openings were...

Ak, thank you guys. This whole problem shouldn't even be happening. I bought a kingwin vga heatpipe thinking to replace my fan, but when I took off the old noisy fan, I found that the mounting holes were just slightly off, one 2mm too far to the right, the other 2mm to the bottom. I called kingwin a...

Reversing a fan
Hello, Right now I have a slot fan blowing out and a vga fan blowing up. I want to fix the problem of each fan pulling in opposing directions. Can I reverse the leads to one of the fans to make them blow the opposite direction? Since both fans are inside a housing I can not simply turn the fan over....
