Re: GTX 750Ti sips power
I just picked up an EVGA 750 OC (not ti, 01G-P4-2753-KR) and fitted an old Accelero S1 to it. All of the plastic parts had been previously removed, but this might not be necessary. There is no fan dedicated to the Accelero. Under furmark with the fan (it ramped up to 49% and was loud) temp was 60C, ...

Did you encounter any issues, like having to enlarge holes in the video card?kernalkue wrote: Obviously it's now completely silent and I'm blown away by the performance.
Please let me know if anyone wants any more information or for me to run a specific test.

I have the same question since no passive cards are out yet. Which Palit of the two, by the way.darthcloud wrote:Someone report the Palit variant to be dead silent on EVGA forum, anyone else tried one of those card?
Hard to figure out which manufacturer make quiet card out of the box!

If the fan is set to run slow at idle, will it ramp up under load or is it stuck at that speed? Is the fan control software part of the AMD Catalyst package, or something unique to Gigabyte?

Re: Which GTX560 Ti is the most quiet?
I think the best strategy for those in North America where Gainward is not sold is to buy whatever cost the least and fit an aftermarket cooler to it. Just let the card burn in for a week or so to be sure it is not defective.

Re: i5-2500k @ 4.3 Ghz, Z68, uATX, 32 Watts @ Idle
This morning I updated the image in the original post to reflect the "new and improved" cable management. It was not necessary to do any grinding or cutting of the case. Cables are now routed out the front and back in where the opening for a floppy drive was, as others have done around here. Extra c...

Re: i5-2500k @ 4.3 Ghz, Z68, uATX, 32 Watts @ Idle
Overclocking the MSI motherboard is easy. Leave the CPU voltage set to auto. Turn off turbo. Change the multiplier to 42. That is it. This also worked with a 43 or 44 multiplier. I am not near that machine right now and can't remember the setting for vdroop or llc, but it was probably Auto as well. ...

Re: i5-2500k @ 4.3 Ghz, NSK3480
I forgot to mention the ambient temperature for the measurements above was a warm 26C. One of the side benefits of removing the 9800 GT is there is more room in the case to work. Previously, it was nearly impossible to change anything without removing the graphics card. Needless to say, the IGP adds...

This is actually a motherboard/CPU upgrade of an older system. The old CPU was an i5-750 @ 3.36 Ghz. Usually I would not bother to move up for a 30% speed bump, but someone else around here needed that CPU and motherboard to upgrade a 6 year old system. When I realized all I would need is a motherbo...

Re: Three uATX Sandy Bridge Motherboards Examined
A lot has been written about overclocking. The short explanation is that CPU speeds are rated for the cheap motherboards that Dell and HP make. the speeds will go much higher when the motherboard has the ability to deliver power to the processor. On the motherboard there are voltage regulators that ...

Three uATX Sandy Bridge Motherboards Examined
What started out as a simple motherboard and processor upgrade in an Antec NSK 3480 case turned into a major project due to the immature status of so many socket 1155 motherboards available today. One thing that I have noticed is the choices for enthusiast motherboards in the uATX form factor is far...

Re: Intel Haswell CPU - a Quantum Jump in CPU Performance?
I just upgraded a machine from an i5-750 P55 to an i5-2500k Z68. The bottom line is that clock for clock Sandy Bridge is only a little better than Lynfield, but Sandy Bridge will achieve much higher clock speeds. There are a few things happening here. SB clocks high on reduced voltages and the small...

Today I removed the 9800GT Eco and booted the machine with a Kill A Watt on the power line. The result was 39 watts AC at idle. that is 27 less than with the card in. Allowing for 80% efficiency in the PSU, the graphics card draws about 22 watts DC at idle, perhaps a bit less if there any losses on ...

Wish your motherboard had an integrated GPU so I could get a rough estimate of how much energy the eco-9800 GT's use. You could run it headless, maybe? Just pull the graphics adapter and watch the idle watts. Granted that you've got a watt-meter, that is. I have the watt-meter, however I am traveli...

Wish your motherboard had an integrated GPU so I could get a rough estimate of how much energy the eco-9800 GT's use. From looking around, the numbers I have seen are 18 watts idle, 66 watts TDP. Under the PCIE 2 specification, it is not allowed to draw more than 75 watts as there is no 6 pin conne...

Thanks for stopping by PuddinPops. Some more thoughts: While I was trying to troubleshoot my bricked system I considered buying a new power supply. If you don't need to under-volt that is fine. However, I did check the Anandtech review of the Zotac mini ITX board and it will allow voltage reductions. They actually got away with a 150 bclk and a small voltage reduction. The main reason to under-volt is to keep the CPU fan from spinning up over a...

Two days ago the motherboard failed. Because I could buy another one at a Microcenter only 10 minutes away, I decided getting the machine up and running again that evening and avoiding the pain and waiting of the RMA process was worth $109, including sales tax.
