i don't quite understand. Asus says it will support "max. 8GB DDR2 800"

The G.Skill HZ memory is very good. If you don't mind a short lifetime, you can even run it CL3 at 2.3V (mine lasted 4 months 24/7; it's rated CL4 at 2.1V). Yeah the HZ i threw on the list as its another model which is pretty popular. i did read somewhere that they don't necessarily guarantee Micro...

Which memory to buy for the Asus P5W DH?

Hopeuflly some smarter people than I can help me. I'm totally clueless over which modules to buy for this motherboard. How do these choices sound: Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2X1GB PC6400 CL 4-4-4-12 OCZ Special Ops Urban Elite PC2-6400 CL4-4-3-15 OCZ Platinum XTC OCZ2P800R22GK PC2-6400...

it's a proven fact that blue leds increase cpu performance by 104%

seriously though, if the OCZ Ninja performs the same or equal as Scythe, then I say good for them. hopefully they'll have a lower price and/or better distribution than Scythe.

Wow! Are you ever right. I searched google for Canadian computer companies but never ran across them. Thanks, thats going to save me a pile of cash. Actually, adding up real quickly and its around $120 CAD (not including the 6% tax savings on top). Cool. I'm just disappointed they don't have the So...

Ironically, the result is actually about $50 more expensive. To give you a quick run-down on the prices I can get here in Canada... P150 (with psu) = $170 P180 (without psu) = $160 Solo (without psu) = $100 Seasonic 500HT = $120. I have the P180 black and it came to $135 (before tax). I strongly re...

no i have no need for modular cables.

i'll have to google what 80+ means to see if its worth the premium. i'm pretty happy with my s12-500 as it is.

edit: in case anyone is interested
http://www.80plus.org/80what.htm
There's also a pdf for seasonic on that website

the review is very promising indeed. aside from the modular cables is there any reason to pick the m12 over the current s12?

Chances are you do need to remove the motherboard, since the backplate slips out of position quite easily. Also, your backplate may not use the same screw threads as the Scythe requires. i have the a8n32 and from what i read the backplate is stuck on quite tightly. geez i hope the scythe retention ...

@MrDisco: You've got the installation procedure correct. @TooNice: Yes, the Nexus should do fine for a OC AMD (within reasonable limits). The difference between the Yate Loon and the Nexus is minimal, I would say 1 degree or less. Also, because the fins are so widely spaced, the Ninja won't benefit...

the stock cooler on my x2-3800 isn't bad. it doens't have any heatpipes - just a simple arrangement of fins with a fan slapped on top. the fan itself is a bit buzzy imo, though the noise is quickly drowned out by the gpu fan.

You got all that right except that there are two 92mm front intake fans not a single 120mm. no what i mean is *my* system has a 120mm fan in the front, and a 120mm in the rear. i was thinking of replacing the stock fans with YL. 1) Ninja allows you to install the bracket on different fins 2) no 3) ...

Just a quick post to say that I just built a system around this combo and that installing the Ninja was a piece of cake. All I know is I upgraded to a Scythe Ninja and couldn't be happier. In general, stock HSF are OK but not great, both for heat dissipation and noise. See if you can live with it, but if you can't, upgrade. I think that's the route I'm going to take. If the noise is unbearable then I'll revisit this ...

AMD x2 Stock HSF - how bad is it?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I've tried to google and read as many stickies as possible but haven't found a clear answer to this. If i'm running a stock/non-OCed x2-3800 how bad is the stock HSF with respect to noise and cooling ability? Is it necessary for me to look at 3rd party HSFs? t...
