Well, I waited four months before replying to this thread and I'm glad that I did. My bands were fine for a while, but despite using the recommended 'one twist' method, I opened up my case recently to change out a defective motherboard and found that my Raptor 74GB drive was resting at a nice 45 deg...

I don't think a quieter i-pod would doom the thing....and concerning education, if Apple would really acknowledge the hearing loss problem, and would make some changes to the machine to tone down the noise, perhaps some/most users would get the message. Hearing aid companies making money? Heh....th...

Re: Coolant release
NO!!!!!! Don't do it :!: AFAIK they're all that keep the coolant in the heatpipes so you'd be buying another one straight away. I seem to remember a guy posting on a forum somewhere about high temps with his brand new HP cooler and after some questioning he revealed he'd hacksawed off the top of hi...

It does in fact matter whether you turn the system off or on. Go to Articsilver.com and read their instructions on applying the thermal compound and you will see they say it takes approximately 200 hours to fully set, yet it can take longer if you use low-speed fans or do not allow the full temperat...

Serious heat concern w/ 754 Athlon
My recent system build consisted of a P150 case with 2x120mm Nexus fans and 2x92mm Nexus. One of the 120s is of course the exhaust, while the other sits on the front side of a Scythe Ninja blowing towards the exhaust. The only other big-time heat generating component in the system is my 7800GT with ...

I would strongly recommend against SilenX PSUs. I owned their 550 version and mine died about a year and two months after my purchase, which of course is past their one-year warranty. I'm disgusted with that fact, since I've never had a PSU fail on me before. Not to mention they are very expensive f...

I know it is suggested not to move the case while you have hard drives suspended. I made a single full twist in my rubber bands simply so that I could know for a fact the drive will stay put when I pick up the case and move it. Ideally if your case never moves, of course the bands don't need to be t...

Hello; I'm new to the forums, but have been coming to SPCR for quite some time. I'm a bit concerned with the comments on the Artic Silencers, since I just purchased one Friday that is arriving tomorrow for my eVGA 7800GT. I also ordered 10" 3-pin extender cables for the case/cpu heatsink fans, but w...
