The problem seems to have magically solved itself after I played a GPU intensive game for a while. *knock wood*

GPU fan stuck at 100%

I have a Leadtek PX8800 GTS TDH 640MB graphics card that is a little over 2 years old. Everything has been working fine so far, but now the variable speed fan on the card seems to be stuck to 100% speed even before Windows is loaded. It just started doing this today. I tried to update the BIOS of th...

Get a Solo case. It's basically an updated version of P150 without a PSU.

The newer X-Fi models have the required connector. I'm listening to music on my XtremeGamer card through headphones plugged in the Solo front panel as I type. 8)

I don't think it's a problem with the source since the hiss is there even when I have no inputs connected. I've tried with both onboard AC97 and X-Fi XtremeGamer, but there was no noticeable difference. My old Logitech Z-340s hissed only when I cranked the volume to max. I do live in a flat so it co...

"Silent" 5.1 speakers?

I've been trying to get myself a 5.1 speaker setup, but it seems every set on the market has a hissing problem. Logitech Z-5400s I could hear to the other side of the room even when the computer was off (plus the subwoofer hummed). Got a Teufel CEM PE set to replace them. A little better, but I coul...

I guess I'll have to try to get it replaced then. *sigh* Just when I got this beautiful thing running, I have to take it apart again.

I tried with a piece of paper in front of the PSU grill and it's definitely the Corsair fan that's changing its speed. Temperature readings from BIOS are System 41C and CPU 32C after hours of regular desktop use.

Corsair HX520 noise?

I just built a new system and was amazed at how quiet it was at first boot. However, after 30 seconds or so the Corsair HX520 power supply fan ramps up and stays at high RPM after that. The noise is worse than with my earlier computer! :x Everything seems to be running really cool, so I don't unders...

Meh, took the plunge and ordered the Gainward. If it proves to be annoyingly loud, I'll probably be able to get rid of it with little to no loss anyway.

Yeah I know... Do you think 320MB is enough memory for a 1680x1050 resolution in games?

I was originally considering an XFX 7950GT passive card, but that 8800GTS is sooo tempting. It just feels bad paying big € for a previous generation product that will lose its value even quicker than GPUs usually do.

Gainward 8800GTS quiet enough?

Anyone have any experience with Gainward 8800GTS cards? How's the stock cooler noisewise? I could get one of these for a reasonable price, but would hate to ruin an otherwise silent system with a noise monster. An online acquaintance of mine described the Gainward cooler as "comfortably quiet", but ...
