Well, we seem to be jockying back and forth at the moment. Yesterday, icefire was leading, now its RayRogers back infront http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_overtake.php?s=&u=181092 Ice's daily production is higher so this is just temporary I'm sure. I'm running flat out, although I was loo...

I pondered this when I was seriously looking at backup options and decided to go with a removable drive bay. I have two drives that I swap on a semi-regular basis, I keep the "out" one at the bank in a safety deposit box. My reasoning for this was that with an external drive it's so easy to forget t...

I just realized that I never got back here with an update. I did as suggested, and installed the program on the XP "side", however, as I suspected, it referenced the "C" drive when the files for the other side are located on "F", which is really "C" when using Vista  It then was a simple case o...

Thanks Neil, that seems easy enough. The only thing that may screw me up I'm thinking is, I installed using Wedo's setup files, http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=231247 If I use that for setup on the other side, I know it won't put the FAH folder in the same place and I can't remember whether...

Folding on a dual boot X2 machine
I'm running two instances of folding on a dual processor machine, these are running in Vista, Beta2. I like Vista but at the moment certain of my programs and devices aren't supported, so I'll boot into XP when needed. However, I'd also like to get FAH to run on XP, using the same WU's that Vista us...

Re: A Horror Story
Had I changed anything? Of course I had - when you're building a new system, you make some change each time you turn it off and on again, but I swear I'd done nothing more than plug in the USB and firewire connectors into the motherboard in this particular yoyo. The machine was on for the best part...

Re: P180: Fan on Lower chamber
My system running good and quiet with the stock fans (as quiet as they allow). Cooling's fine on upper chamber, but the 4 hard drive's on the lower chambers are running hot, even with the lower chamber fan running. I have the Seasonic S12 380W in there as well. Hope to hear any suggestions you migh...

The insides of your puter could do with some cable management though  Thanks nici... Cable mangement - Due to the location of the ATX cables they do make the case look messy. You may cringe at the first thought of this suggestion, but you would be surprised how well a simple hand wash with dishwashing soap (moisturizer, scent, dye, everything free) can clean a disc. Just be nice to the label and dry it without leaving any dust bits. Doesnt leave a perfect disc, but it w...

Hola All, I've joined as =TangoCharlie=! I haven't been folding in a long time, but I figure I might as well put this new PC to some good use, as opposed to just letting it wait around for me to play COD2. Can you not go up and over? Up the back wall and over the top of the board. I added an extension to the four pin plug for mine. I was able to open a hole in the seperator between the PSU chamber and the main, and then run the wire up the front left corner (as you look in the side) over the fan to th...

I do a lot of Family history work with my computer, so I am paranoid about losing imformation that has taken me many years to amass. What I decided upon after some thought, was an internal removable drive. I went IDE because I had a couple of drives sitting around. I bought a drive case and an extra...

The simplest mod of all will improve your airflow: remove the slatted front doors. Just pop them open and depress the tab by the top hinge. The filters remain in place, and look okay. It looks like you have two single-bay air filters/inlets in the bottom 5" bays. What are those? Thanks, been there,...

Thanks everyone for your comments: GamingGod; how did you construct the ducts? I used Styrene, or at least that's what I thought I was using, it turns out that the clear plastic is polypropylene, and that is just about impossible to glue. I ended up sanding the edges, gluing with Testors and then ru...

My P180 Chopped and Ducted
It was a question of necessity that forced me to construct a new system. My daughters were complaining that they weren’t able to install the latest Sims game on the PIII machine that they inherited from me. So that gave me an excuse to give them my P4 and build a new one, and best of all, my wife ...

I had been looking at those myself, they would be fine if you didn't need a large airflow, they are a bit restrictive for what I wanted. What they do have going for them is that they are cone shaped so the surface area is increased. The ones I was looking at the wire was actually thicker than the ho...

I agree with you about the tape over the rear vents working in conjunction with the compartment fan, it worked very well when I tried it, and it kept my drive cool. But I wanted the fan out of there, and for my particular setup I think this is going to be ideal. I'm running two exhaust fans (rear an...

You're running the same CPU as I am, and slightly overclocked to boot. I think if it were underclocked and undervolted it would run without a fan, but that's no fun :D How about ducting to the rear exhaust fan, that's the way that I went. It's not silent, but it is very quiet and somewhere to start....
