Industrial Damping.
Not sure which topic this comes under. Maybe off topic. Maybe someone should have taken a patent on equipment rubber banding.LOL Seems to have taken a long time for industry to catch on. Maybe there was too much money to be made in more expensive solutions. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/06/02/gp...

Re: The Computer I Could Not Silence
(I’m approaching 70) I don't know if it's the alcohol, or just that I'm easily amused, but I find it AWESOME that you know how to build computers at your age. I idolize you. The first machine I built was a super heterodyne valve radio around 1961 (everything was hard wired and soldered)and I was ...

The Computer I Could Not Silence
This a bit off topic but all the silencing techniques in the world sometimes can’t quiet that noisy computer. Having started reading SPCR a couple of years ago I became obsessed with reducing the noise in my computer. Selecting the recommended little by little aquiring a corsair power supply , Scy...

Why do motherboards at all
Hi Mike your comments on wasted time and effort in testing early production models made me wonder why do motherboards in SPCR at all . I know I will probably be flamed for even questioning this but as I see it the Mobo doesn't have a great bearing on silence. The things which bolt to the Mobo are th...

Is Mike Married?
Having just read for the first time Mike's story on how SPCR came to be, I wondered how he coped with marriage. With kitchens and other rooms of the house devoted to "silent computer testing" seems Mike got away with what my wife certainly wouldn't put up with. Mike you either have a fabulous wife o...

I am up for a new case and I naturally searched SPCR but found only bad or neutral comments made on the Cooler Master HAF 932. I also searched here http://www.testfreaks.com/computer-cases/cooler-master-haf-932-rc-932/ and it got rave reviews from many sources. All said it was very quiet and with 23...

Just to back FartingBobs post. I have a Ninja RevB plus and while I don't know what voltage the Silverstone fan on it is at, I do know it adjusted to 750 rpm (just checked it). It doesn't matter too much wich way the fan is blowing/sucking. What makes the most differece is to have a consistant flow.Air currents should not be fighting one another. Yes it is possible to do Raid 1 with eSATA provided your Mobo has EsATA connectors. But I would guess you would have to build your own quiet enclosure, if you want quiet. If you want absolute security then you need to backup offsite. There are lots of free internet storage sites. Chances are in a fi...

The ninja will work on a P35-DQ6?
I did answer the question abou the ninja and P35-DQ earlier and the answer is yes. To those unfamiliar with the P35-DQ6 it has what Gigabyte calls "crazy heat pipes" which are passive coolers for the mb chipsets. They are quite large on on the mb and I had reservations about the Ninja fit. Trial pla...

Do you think the ninja will work on a P35-DQ6? Yes it does but only just. I fitted the revB to my P35-DQ6 mb. When I lined everything up before install there seemed to be plenty of room. However the Ninja heatpipes on one side ( facing back panel) just rested on the fins of the mb "crazy"heatpipe. T...

I have been playing about with case fans to lower temperatures of my GPU and HDD. Not withstanding what has been published here and elsewhere I was not happy that the idle temp for my GPU was around 58 C and HDD's about 48 C. The Gigabyte G power cpu cooler was great keeping my AMD 3800X2 at 28 C. S...

Yes on the hard drives
Yes I have 3 samsungs running and although they are isolated and there is no vibration noise there is that whine you talk about just above the hearing threshold which seems to come from right inside your head.
I am thinking about wrapping the drives in lead sheet to see if that makes a difference.
