Thank you guys. but does it affect the thermal separation idea? i.e. Does the heat from the hard drives rise up any into the upper chamber? Not that I have noticed. I'll try and snap a couple more of the hole I made for the ATX cable. I wouldn't see it being more of a problem than the stock solution...

Making the best out of it: P180 (Dialup Warning)

I haven't been happy with the P180 overall, aside from other things I've posted about it in the forums already. Cable routing and management is a big problem I have with the case. What I've done is try to clean it up as best as I could. System specs in sig. Case: P180, NeoPower 480, 3x 120mm Yate Lo...

Hehe, true. If I had the DFI board I don't know if I would pay that. But being fed up with DFI I switched to an Abit recently. I'm quite happy with their passive heatpipe solution.

Oh! Looking around on their site today (performance-pcs) I noticed they already have it in: here. It's a little more than I thought it would be at $39.95.

If you're not afraid of a dremel, I did a nice little mod on my p180 that allowed me to run my 12v cable behind the motherboard tray. Will be posting pictures of the whole setup soon the the general gallery.

This is the tool I used for ATX, 12v, pcie connectors; works fine. One thing I have seen where quite a few people run into problems with this tool is they use it like the female molex extractor. There is no pushing or "popping" the pin out. Just slide it in (it will only fit in one way) and then sl...

Molex connectors are easy to remove with the right tool. Vantec includes the tool with a set of their Eazy-Grip molex connectors. My experience is if you want the sleeve to look nice and tight, you definitely want to remove connectors. If you use the smallest diameter sleeve material for each lead, ...

I don't know how true it is. But I've read on a couple forums now, performance-pcs.com said they will be carrying these starting some time in March for around $32. They're a good retailer, I've purchased parts from them many times.

A better idea is I can take a US dime and slide it under the end of the bracket of the card. I just took some pieces of scrap metal and used em as shims for my cards. I'm not RMAing the case, one the cost and it would probably about a month before I had a replacement case in my hands.

This is my first experience with Antec CS, it's regarding my p-180 case. I'm getting the door warping and side panels coming apart. With this problem being known for some time now, why Antec does not have a stock of these parts on hand is beyond me, they're apparently still backordered which is a 2 ...

You'd think by now they'd have some kind of stock of these parts on hand to send out. I called them Monday to get a replacement for the front door and both side panels (both sides are coming apart, purchased it 9/1/2005) and he said he'd put in the order, never mentioned about being on backorder. I ...

I called Antec, as soon as I mentioned the front door and panels the guy said he'll send those out to me. So that is taken care of. For the motherboard mounts, he knew what I was talking about but said he had trouble visualizing it. So I had to take some pictures and email them to him. I did some me...

Yep, I made sure to check they didn't preinstall any that I didn't need like they do in the Sonata. This wouldn't even have been an issue if they didn't make some of the stand-offs permenant, which I don't know why they did. I could've tried other sets of stands I have laying around. After I sent th...

P180: motherboard stand-offs too tall?

Howdy, I've had the case for about 4-5 months now. I have to say I'm really disappointed in this case. When I initially put the system together (system in sig) I noticed when the video card was installed it didn't quite match up to the short side of the case, where the screw goes. It was close to 1/...

If you want to use the upper pcie slot with a longer/modern video card. Why not get an Evercool VC-RE cooler? It runs very quiet, pushes more air than the stock fan, all copper. It's a drop in replacement, no need for bending, cutting, etc.

In general terms, grinding the gpu side of the heatsink is going to reduce the area of the heatsink, so less surface area to dissipate heat. I'm going to try the ultra soon on my 6800gt, but from pics it looks like it is a "single slot" solution. Also I do know from experience using a modern card wi...
