Does Cool n Quiet still work?
I just recently put together a new machine, x2 5600, Asus M3A78-EM, 2gb DDR2 800, BFG 9800GT, WinXP Home w/SP2. C'n'Q is enabled in the bios and AMD's driver is installed. For some reason I'm not seeing any kind of drops. I checked Asus's site to see if there was a bios update relating to fixes invo...

Intel has been doing this with their Xeon/server platform for a while now. I think it's part of their SSI spec. It could be done, however, unless you would want to do it just for the sake of doing it, I don't believe it would be worth it in my opinion. I think, in the case of the Ninja, just replaci...

Yeah it's been about 7 years for me too, running floppyless. If you run the SATA controller in IDE mode, I don't believe you need to do any (F6) during setup. But if you do any kind of slipstream setup, it's not hard to add the SATA drivers. And for flashing BIOS, a thumb drive formatted using HP's ...

I don't know about that. I distinctly remember Win2000 when it was released running a heck of a lot better than NT4 on the same machine. Which at the time was dual p3 450's with 512mb of ram. Win2000 served me quite well up until a few years ago I started using an LCD display. For me, I would get m...

I hated the days when there wasn't a 120mm fan in sight. The first aftermarket heatsink I ever bought was the Swiftech MC462 for my 1.4 Tbird. At that time I had no idea about fan speeds/ noise levels/ etc. Until then I considered retail heatsinks quiet. But at the time, the Swiftech was said to coo...

I share the same view of computers that JazzJackRabbit has for the most part. Exceptions are if someone does something that is truly unique. I might not personally like it or would ever think about doing it, but I can appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into designing/building something...

Who's to blame..... look in a mirror. Well it wouldn't do me any good as I don't watch those shows. Instead I'll look to the dipsticks that sit there and say, "Oh I hate such and such show, I only watch it to see..." Last time I checked, ratings don't take excuses for watching a show into account. ...

I'm all for it, TV is a cancer and rots peoples brains. It's bad enough all on its own, but to be wasting massive amounts of radio bandwidth to pump the filth and trash over the airwaves is horrible. At least with the conversion to digital they get less bandwidth allocated to them, freeing up more ...

The 300 looks like an interesting case, especially if its price is going to be around $60. I agree with some others though about the side panel vent. Besides the cases that use the large fans (20cm +) I haven't seen side panel vents play a significant part in cooling. But others might feel different...

I haven't done any formal testing myself with the Ninja. But I can say I ran a Ninja with no fan attached to it on an x2 4400+ with a 120mm YL exhaust in a p180 case. The highest temp after hours of load was about 49C. I also have a 2.8ghz P4 Northwood using a Ninja with no fan attached and just a N...

1) I don't have the board but looked through the manual and that's how I thought of it. I've used Abit boards in the past with this feature and it's how it worked. 2) What he said. Some boards will shut the fan off (DFI boards come to mind). 3) I don't think so. But try other fan headers on the boar...
