Does Cool n Quiet still work?

I just recently put together a new machine, x2 5600, Asus M3A78-EM, 2gb DDR2 800, BFG 9800GT, WinXP Home w/SP2. C'n'Q is enabled in the bios and AMD's driver is installed. For some reason I'm not seeing any kind of drops. I checked Asus's site to see if there was a bios update relating to fixes invo...

Intel has been doing this with their Xeon/server platform for a while now. I think it's part of their SSI spec. It could be done, however, unless you would want to do it just for the sake of doing it, I don't believe it would be worth it in my opinion. I think, in the case of the Ninja, just replaci...

Yeah it's been about 7 years for me too, running floppyless. If you run the SATA controller in IDE mode, I don't believe you need to do any (F6) during setup. But if you do any kind of slipstream setup, it's not hard to add the SATA drivers. And for flashing BIOS, a thumb drive formatted using HP's ...

Is it XP with any service pack? I do believe at least with SP2 you do not need any SATA drivers (Hit F6) if you're using the HDD(s) in a non-RAID setup. At least I never had to with a 36gb Raptor and various motherboards.

I wonder if it's a record label thing. Here in Detroit, the local rock station (WRIF) will censor different words in different songs. One song they'll mute out a**, another song they'll leave a** alone but mute b*tch. There seems to be no single standard for them.

I'm still happy with XP, don't really have an opinion about Vista one way or the other. But one thing that did bother me hearing about Vista; having to use a memory stick/thumb drive to increase performance on some machines? To me that doesn't sound all that elegant or professional.

I hated the days when there wasn't a 120mm fan in sight. The first aftermarket heatsink I ever bought was the Swiftech MC462 for my 1.4 Tbird. At that time I had no idea about fan speeds/ noise levels/ etc. Until then I considered retail heatsinks quiet. But at the time, the Swiftech was said to coo...

I would agree with the OP. But I would also say it's not limited to board makers. A lot of software companies seem to do this. And if it's a piece of software that allows 3rd party custom skins, eek! Look out. (See winamp, WMP, firefox, etc)

I'm all for it, TV is a cancer and rots peoples brains. It's bad enough all on its own, but to be wasting massive amounts of radio bandwidth to pump the filth and trash over the airwaves is horrible. At least with the conversion to digital they get less bandwidth allocated to them, freeing up more ...

The 300 looks like an interesting case, especially if its price is going to be around $60. I agree with some others though about the side panel vent. Besides the cases that use the large fans (20cm +) I haven't seen side panel vents play a significant part in cooling. But others might feel different...

I would think you'd need some tools to do it. Possibly heating the pipes up with a propane torch. But I can't see the second bend being made without messing with some of the fins.

The HR-05 SLI already has this mod done to it.

I'm surprised they haven't done a black on black Solo/p150. Kind of like the Sonata with the matte/plastic finish and the glossy.
