Need some explanation please. I have just set up my new system around an Asus P5k-E Wifi and Intel E6550. Speedfan provides temps that match figures on Asus Probe, except it has one item as Aux that is 127C!! I follows dhanson865's advice an got a config from the Speedfan website and now the Aux ite...

Vista or XP?

I am now finally building my new system around an Asus P5K-E Wifi and was wondering whether there is any point installing Windows Vista instead of XP at this point.

Thanks for any input!

I'm considering this board, but the high NB temps are abit scary since I live in the tropics . . . ambient temps in summer is already around 27-30C so if the NB runs hot in Europe and N. America in winter, it is going to really burn in summer.

Otherwise, this boards fits my needs very well.

It is good to know that AMD is faster out of the box at the price range . . . but one of my key problems is lack of choice for AMD based boards. So far, I have seen Asus and Gigabyte boards but have not found any AM2 socket MSI boards.

Thanks for the info!! Great seems like AMD CPU is way to go at budget price range . . . only thing is less mobo choices. I am looking at M8N-E as stated before, but am abit worried about comments that it is less than stable when tweaked. I don't really intend to overclock so I should be OK?? In term...

New Build Advice : Intel or AMD? M8N-E any good?

Background : last week, the SATA controller on my motherboard (Asus A8N-E) got fried (freak accident, no idea what caused it) and it can no longer access any SATA device. I have decided to build a new rig as my main system and hopefully salvage my current one as a backup system. I have not been acti...

Just got my hands on a SATA-to-IDE connector and plugging the hard disks into the IDE port, the motherboard / bios successfully recognized the hard disks. The problem now is that the C drive is connected to the secondary IDE port and the mobo still won't load the OS. I was hoping that it would boot ...

Pardon my ignorance, but how does resetting bios help?

When I go into bios setup it recognizes everything else apart from what's connected to the SATA ports - which include 3 hard disks (there are 4 SATA ports). It seems to me that everything else is fine.

PC is not recognizing my hard disks. What to do?

Major PC disaster encountered last night! Gigabyte Volar GH-PSU21-FB CPU HSF

Came across this new Gigabyte CPU HSF in a magazine. Product page : http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/AirCooling/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2499&ProductName=Volar The main feature is the omni-directional 120mm fan, that can be angled to blow at the chipsets or mosfets areas. SUNON Waturbo

I just ran into this in a Taiwanese PC mag - Sunon Waturbo. It is a CPU cooler that combines a heatsink fan with a liquid pump inside the heatsink. The fan is supposed to a mag-lev fan. Waturbo = water turbo Here are the links to the official site: http://www.sunon.com.tw/waturbo/en_tc01406001.htm I...

Is 42C too hot for a harddrive?

I built my PC in winter and with ambient temps of around 20C, the CPU was around 27-30C most of the time when idle or browsing the internet. Now that it is summer, temps are significantly higher. According the Speedfan, I have: CPU: 37C Chipset: 42C Harddrive: 42C 1) Are these temps normal when ambi...

Help needed to remove video interference

I recently built a pc around a MSI K8NGM2-FID in a Cooler Master Centurion 541 case (with 380W PSU). Everything is working fine except the LCD monitor flickers occassionally. This flickering is worse when I watch TV through a PCI TV Tuner card. I know this is not the monitor's fault as I have simila...

With the A8N-E. the manual says Asus Q-Fan supports CPU FAN and CHASSIS FAN. The chipset fan is synchronized with CPU FAN.

I have noticed chipset fan rpm decreasing when temps are lower, so I suppose it works.

Don't know whether this is the same with the A8N-SLI Premium though.
