What about something like a Sunbeam Wherever PCI Rack with a silent fan of your choice? This is amazing!!! I never thought anything like that existed! This is a dream come true! Thank you so much for that info Jamie!!! I owe you a pint next time I'm in Melbourne mate!!! Of course, you could...

I'm looking into using a Kabuto on a Core i7... the Mugen 2 is a few mm too high to fit in my Lian-li case...

Any recommendations on the performance of this Kabuto?

Fans have been Zalman's weakspot forever. Thanks for the info... but Zalman looks good on paper? Fan Spec: 12V, 0.35A, 92mm Fan Speed: 1400 - 2300 ± 10% Noise Level: 18.0dBA - 27.5dBA ± 10% Nexus will be 1500 RPM and 17.6dBA, but that noise will be external... Also, I'm curious about the cooling ...

Cooling a PCI card... internal or external PCI fan?

I have a Perc5i RAID card that I need to cool with direct airflow, so I'm looking at the options of having a PCI-mounted fan. Obvioulsy, it should be the most silent possible. Anyone has any experience using these below, notably the external Nexus? I'm thinking the fresh air coming from outside and ...

Two things: The SAS ports were backwards compatible with SATA, so in effect they were SATA ports already. The pictures I have seen of the V2 board, including those on Asus' own website, shows an empty space where the SAS ports used to be, and the specs confirm that there are now "just" 6 SATA ports...

Best keyboard I've ever had. I got it 2 weeks ago and it's simply gorgeous. Keystrokes are like silk, and I'm simply loving it. Highly recommended.

I bought my Phantom 500 in Hong Kong in March 2006. Been running like a beauty 24/24h non-stop for 15 months now. And mind you, I'm in Singapore, thus the average temperature is 30 degrees all year round. Of course, I have my 12cm Antec Tricool fan blowing at it at 1200 rpm inside my Antec P180 case...

Re: Yate Loon vs Nexus vs Scythe

Avoid the "Silent" Cat at all costs! :D I was about to get a ThermalTake Silent Cat tomorrow to replace my Antec Tricool at the top of my P180... Glad I read this, I think I'm gonna have to find something else! Problem is: we only have rubbish here... No Nexus, no YL... Just the regular commercial ...

Ducts can be lined with sound-absorbent material. That is very true and probably helps quite a bit. How difficult it is to build very quiet and efficient ducts in practice? Or are there any kind of kits sold to help in building? I'm also very interested in hearing more about ducting. I am installin...

Singapore is typically about 35C and high humidity, right? Indeed. During the day I have the AC on and room temp is around 25 C. But at night when the AC is off, I believe the room temp is 30 at least. Ouch. But so far I've been very impressed by the Antec Phantom 500 and its fan has never kicked i...

You won't go wrong with this. I run an 830 D (which runs hotter than a 930) with a Ninja and a Phantom 500 in a P180 case. The PS fan never turns on, and the Ninja stays cool with a 120mm AcoustiFan @ 5V (similar to a Nexus @ 7V) strapped to its side. This fan will be way quieter than any of the An...

@ Jaganath: "passively cooling" means for me anything other than this horrible Intel fan! Seriously, I do agree with you regarding the technical impossibility of cooling this CPU with a simple heatsink... So when I think of the Ninja I actually think of it with a fan. And I remember seeing in ...

can you move the lower fan to the other side? Well, yes, since I am not using any hard drive in the lower chamber, I could move the fan to the other side... But: - I find it just perfect like that, especially that the fan is blowing really close to the Phantom, and there's nothing between them. - I...

Antec P180 + Phantom 500 PSU

OK OK... before you say anything... yes, that's the stock Intel fan mounted on my CPU. And yes, it's giving me... noise nightmares! But I have just built this PC and I'm getting the Scythe Ninja this week. Also, I'm still investigating on how best to cool the Pentium D 930... that thing runs quite h...

Passive cooling for Pentium D 9xx?

I've been an avid reader of these forums for a very long time, and now that I finally have the budget and bought a brand new PC, I need advice please... To make it short: I got a P180 case in which I put an Asus P5WD2 Premium with a Pentium D 930. The graphics card is a simple fanless ATI X300 as I ...
