Nevermind, I was able to purchase one.

If anyone else is intersted in buying this, you can purchase one from eBay, or contact one of the stores that include it with their 4-pin DC adapters. They should be able to hook you up.

4-pin mini din input to a P4 connector

Does anyone know where I can purchase this type of connector? It should go from a 4-pin mini din input to a P4 connector. I believe they are called 4 pin mini-DIN to mini-FIT JR adapters. The problem is that these are mostly sold with the power bricks, and I already have that. I am going to be using...

I currently have the Winmate and an Alienware 220W adapter. I plan to move my system into an Antec ISK300-65 case. The Antec case comes with the following adapter. Can I re-use this adapter or should I just mod the case to use the extension included with the Winmate. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Zh4ijSs7id...

I heard that is possible to replace the fan on the stock Intel heatsink.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to do this?

Are 7200rpm 2.5" drives louder than 5400rpm 2.5"? Would it be noticeable if they were both soft mounted?

Temp of E7200 proc

Hi all, I am putting together a new HTPC, and I was wondering what the nominal operating temp of the E7200 should be in my situation. I have the system in a NSK2480 case, and installed a mini-ninja (using the thermalright bolt-thru kit). I have only one side fan, which is a 800 rpm Scythe S-Flex. Ri...

How quiet are Seagate's notebook drives? Are they as bad as their desktop drives?

I think I will buy the WD 640GB; the $/GB seems to be the best. Also, I can always turn AAM on.

In my previous HTPC, I used a Seagate drive and it was too loud. I want to avoid that this time. The Patriot PE32GS25SSDR (MLC) seems to have good reviews. From the reviews it does not appear to suffer from the freezing plaguing the OCZ drives. Do you think I would be able to install Vista on it? Ke...

SSD is too expensive at the moment. However, you are right, SSD is the best option. I guess my real question is, what is the difference in terms of seek noise between the 3.5" WD6400AAKS and 2.5" WD3200BEKT? They seem to be similar if AAM is turned on in the WD6400AAKS. BTW, do laptop drives use any...

I'd suggest something like the WD GP drives if you're completely paranoid about noise, or the new WD3200AAKS or WD6400AAKS drives. I was thinking about getting the 500GB WD GP drive, but I am concerned about speed. Would it be fast enough? I was also considering the WD6400AAKS, but I don't need som...

3.5" vs. 2.5" for HTPC

I am in the process of building a HTPC, and I am stuck on the HDD to buy. I want it to be as silent as possible (of course), so I was thinking about buying a notebook HDD and softmounting it in my NSK2480. My criteria is 7200rpm with 16mb of cache, and a price tag of less than $100. Am I correct in ...

I am making a new HTPC using the Antec NSK2480, and I am looking for a quiet 7200rpm notebook drive, with at least 16mb of cache.

I was thinking about this WD Scorpio Black 320GB drive.

Any suggestions on which model I should buy?

Just an update.

I installed XP and indeed my temp reading is also stuck on 44C. Bios, however, is reporting only reporting 9C.

Also what is a safe CPU Vcore for an E8400. I have is at 1.33 and still cant get it stable. Of course, CPU-Z is reporting a lower value.

They are labelled sequentially so L2 is older than M0 as an example.

well I went for the E2140 for $60+tax.

unRAID has the capability of spinning down the drives, so I am hoping in idle with drives spun down my power usage will be around 70W.

since unraid is based on linux will speed step still work, i.e. is it only bios based?

going by the numbers in the link above, i am leaning towards the E2140.
